Description And now something really different...

A World Forgotten.

Began as Vue Experiment and developed to this piece. A short break from my spaceart-routine.

Applications involved:

Vue, 3ds Max, Photoshop

Edit: Had too much noise in the shadows. Fixed that.

Edit 2: I just thought the place needed something more. I added one of this eerie things, when realities collide or contradict each other. The altar showing a holo of the jungle planet is such a thing.

nice image man, I like your whole gallery but with this one. I feel it could be much better with a bit of texture anti-aliasing... 20% should do it, I found with so much vegetation that the images can get too pixelated... give that a go, even just 10% maybe because it increases render time phenomenally... and rightly so too, the images that come out look amazingly better *if they need it.

Thanks man, I'm experimenting a lot lately with that application. Still a long way but I'm getting there. I have this idea for our collab, but I won't go into details. I can tell you this: It'll be alienish awesome. Just have to figure out how to realize it.

Schon in Ordnung.

Oh interesting... one nitpick though, it just seems to be coming out of the stone. A little "projector" protrusion or something would be nice.

Chromattix [2009-05-17 13:56:19 +0000 UTC]

Amazing use of dense vegetation growing over an old ruin, the lighting and randomness are very well-fitting too. It has a certain "messyness" that's surprisingly difficult to acheive naturally in Vue which adds to the realism too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

hoevelkamp In reply to Chromattix [2009-05-18 00:12:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot buddy. The "messyness" was achieved by adding some texture and noise to the picture. That way the plants don't have this rendered look and the stone of the ruins gets a more realistic texture. Had to fix the shadows though. They were way too noisy and that's not realistic at all. Most of the plants were placed using the ecosystem paint tool. And the most prominent plants were than placed and arranged by hand.
