EDIT: Rescanned with new scanner and am making a print. Still not a perfect scan, but I think this one is a lot closer to the softness of the shading and the colors in the original.
Damn, but "Raven" by Do As Infinity is an addictive song. I've been listening to it a lot the last few days, and just *had* to draw something for it - and of course "drawing something" always ends up being "drawing a pretty boy" with me.
Oh yeah, and I shall use this as my 40k celebration pic - I didn't have anything planned, so he'll do. XDAnyway, tried some kind of different things with this - long limbs, different eyes, sketchy background, and the coloring was basically me just going "wheeeee colors!" and layering on as many as I could. XD I adore how his hair turned out - yay little curlies! - and I have to say that brush pens + white charcoal = FUUUUUUN. The scanner absolutely KILLED this, though. ;o; The minute I get a decent scanner, I'm going to use this one to beat someone evil to death.
But hey, at least I have yet another character to hang out in my head. XD He goes by Fray, and I have fun things in store for him - damnit, that means I need to sit down and write. x.x The kanji on his shirt read "nakushita basho" (lost place), which is a phrase out of "Raven." And yeah, there are two moons, and - stuff - I just felt like doing something a bit abstract, okay? So although I don't normally mind critiques, I did this totally for my own fun and amusement and I'd just rather people not point out mistakes, I know there are plenty.

There's something very charmingly childlike about this one. I think it's the symbolic stars and background, and the texture continued into his clothing. ^_^

Great job on this hokuto! I think this is my favorite pic that you've ever done. I like how he's more defined and the background is much sketchier, and those stars are really cute! I think the face is great, the pose also is, and I love his hair! And the wings too, of course. I know how bad scanners are on pictures, so I really wish you can get a better scan soon. I'm sure teh colors are much more vivid in the original!

Good job with the colouring too, I totally understand how a scanner can kill most of the colouring, especially when a drawing is done with coloured pencils.

Beautiful. It's one of the most life-having (?) images you've done in a long time. There are some things that can only be done with the artist working over their image, and not on a series of electrons. I love it. He looks alive!

aww... he's so cute! I love the idea of him pulling stars from the sky.. did that come from the song? I really like the background, gives the whole thing a dynamic feel. And his wings are gorgeous, so fluffy and light, even though they are black.
