A gorgeous statue and I love the hidden meaning to it. Both Roman and Greek artwork never ceases to amaze me. I usually see photos of such things a bit blury or too small to view it, but your photot really gives it justice~ <3

That female statue in the background is totally staring at Mars' butt, lol. I'm just being silly, it is beautiful. I love old marble, it's truly something difficult to work with.

It was John Gibson (born 1790 died 1866): it was sculpted in Rome in 1819 [it was his first sculpture] and he sold it for Β£500.
