Description "If my words could fall like leaves, What bonfires they could make!"
-Shogun

My favorite of the three book cutting projects.

Scene erected from the pages of James Clavell's Shogun ....
This actually caused my inner book nerd a bit of pain. I've long had this book on my book shelf and have yet to read it... And now a majority of it has been diced up into cherry blossom petals... =u=; I'm such a baddddd person.

Ah well.
All the illustrations are MINE this time. Yup- Trees, kimonos and cranes are really fun to draw!

And hopefully that pond is noticeable....

------

Art and carvings- Holly Hansel
Novel- Shogun, James Clavell
was a scene at all like this in the actual book

Amazing. Pity that the book didn't make it It's a very good book. And its film adaptation is worth being recommended.

I don't really know if it was an adaptation of this book. It just came to my mind. The main character was played by Richard Chamberlain.

Thank you! And yes- carving the trees was my favorite part too! I appreciated the irony of creating trees out of paper- almost as if the paper's 'life' was all coming full circle xD

I work in a library so that side of me is saying "noooooooooo! spare that poor book!"

But then the creative, artistic, side of me is saying "holy God, that is stunning".

I'm gonna listen to the creative side and fav this

Understandable- I was an avid Library volunteer back in the day (pff, that being a only few months ago xD), so I did suffer from internal anguish at dicing up a book I had not yet read.

However, the outcome was worth it- thank you so very much!

this i really purtty
and also lol at your authors comment cos i also have Shogun on my shelf for a long time and have yet to read it
i'd like to say that maybe i could try and attempt something similar with said book... but i can't cut up my babies.
i keep telling my other half that if there's a fire then i will be saving the books and not him
some might call me a bookworm but that honestly doesn't illustrate the level of obsessed i'm at lol
