Description Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho. Yay!

You'll have to excuse the title; I could think of nothing better.

So, this is part of a series I inadvertently ended up making; it wasn't planned:
Hiei: [link]
Kuwabara: [link]
Yusuke: [link]

I knew I wanted to draw Kurama, but didn't have specific motifs I wanted to work with like Hiei. Hiei had the Jagan and Hiruseki stones I wanted to illustrated; I decided to add the rose vine (with no rose blossom however) at the last moment.

***TECHNIQUE***
This is watercolor paper. I started out with a light sketch and purposely kept everything rough. Everything on here is a combo of Prismacolor chalk pastels, watercolor, Prismacolor watercolor pencils, and Crayola color pencils.

I wanted a pretty Kurama, but pretty darn close to what he actually looks like (in otherwords, he's a bishounen, but I didn't want to ultra-bishounen-fy him in some shoujo style). This isn't exactly what I wanted, and is a bit more of my own style than I want, but I find it at least somewhat satisifactory.

This is beautiful! The mixed media give it a fantastic effect and the green of his rose whip is a nice contrast to the red of his hair and also brings out his emerald eyes. Love it!

You're very good at watercolor ;3 I adore that detail, especially in the eyes and hair and whip. |3 I wouldn't have guessed it was added on it it wasn't already in the comments.

Oh, thank you. Honestly, I'm kinda embarrassed that I'm not really using the watercolor the right way (in the traditional sense), but whatever works, right? Watercolor is suppose to be light and gently applied...damn my hand of lead. lol

This is really pretty. I loved how you colored his hair and eyes. They look great. The rose whip is neat too.

Thanks...lol. The rose whip was last minute addition. It was hard trying to make it look like it wasn't added after all the other work was already done on the piece.
