We all know this scene! What's there to explain! ^_^I truly think Ash was meant to have Totodile but for Misty to have at least tried for it was the most epic! I love seeing her take on the trials of collecting pokemon just as much as Ash! I feel that if Misty did in fact win over Ash during this battle, it'd have created tension between them but in a good way! Just means, more childhood bickering
which is still CUTE!

Pikachu should've kicked that little piece of shit's ass. Misty willingly chose to send Togepi out to battle, and in a battle, you must treat all of your opponents as equals. No matter what.
