Description THERE'S SO MUCH I WANT TO SAY, AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN D:

First of all, I cannot thank enough for allowing me to adopt his girl!!!
I've never adopted a character before, because I've felt that a character is something unique to the creator, something
irreplaceable. When I saw this girl on his gallery, I instantly fell in love with it! Truly, love at first sight. For the next
few days I kept looking at it over and over, and i couldn't get her out of my mind. It was then that I actually noticed
the title of the image. "Just some girl" and I was heartbroken. So I asked him if it was an OC of him or just some random
girl he came up with. Seems like it was an image for someone else, but the character had been changed dramatically.
This make me weep even harder!! WHY WOULD ANYONE CHANGE THIS AMAZING CHARACTER?! When he said it was
cool for me to adopt it, I flipped my table and jumped for joy! I instantly opened SAI and got ready for an image.
I had so my ideas swirling in my head, but I didn't know which one to pick. That's when I thought of my own OC
Emily. Something about them two together felt right... So I decided to do a beach theme with them. But instead,
the adopted girl wanted a beach scenery, rather than the actual thing (like those board up landscapes people
stand in front of? Yeah, one of those) and I just rolled with it. Technically the new girl isn't taller than Emily,
she's just standing closer to us. Emily is still taller, by a bit.

I have no idea what to name the new girl, the name Vanessa is swirling in my head, but not sure if I should
go with it. Anyone want to contribute to the name-brainstorming?

Added a bit more 'black shadow' to make it clear that they are being cast upon with lights, without actually
adding in any shadowing. As for the background shadow, I tried to make it look a bit better... working with
2 sources of light is not fun to say the least... Though I think Vanessa look 'closer to us' more now than
before.

Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

Both characters look great. The smaller details are going a long way. The dividing line for "Vanessa"s face works great with her visible ear and her glasses crossing the dividing line without looking awkward.
The differences in character detail show awareness that doesn't seem to be in the other character, adding to their uniqueness.
Collar bone lines tell a lot about the awareness of body posture, which you nailed down.
"Vanessa"s right hand looks amazing. The subtle knuckle lines sell the depth and position of the fingers. The wrist on both tell how the hand is positioned as well. The double line right shoulders shows the characters standing off at an angle with the camera, which doesn't seem to carry over to their shadows. Another thing to experiment with is the possible stretching/derogation of their shadows on the flat backdrop with their off stance and slight side lighting.
The shadowing is the only thing that comes off as particular. The neck shadows are the only real shadowing on the skin. It isn't subtle and it takes away from "Vanessa"s neck line by matching her hair shading.
Each character has their own spot light. "Vanessa" is farther away from the back drop, so I get the feeling she would have a double shadow, as well as your own character but not as much.

Overall, I like it. Shows off two different styles with intrigue details that sets the characters apart. Depth and position are done through simple line placement and not on shading. Great photo shoot drawing.

Thank you, thank you.

I must admit that unlike Vanessa original image, the only difference I may make is making her hair jet black without highlights. For some reason, I find the lack of detail to the hair rather interesting for her design. (The opposite of Emily, whom tends to require more 'hair-splitting' details).

I am glad her right hand came out well, though now that its been a day, and I can see the image more clearly, I do believe it might be too small for my taste.

As far as the shading, Not shading them was a tactic I was going for in this image, but rather express the character through minor details (neck and maybe under nipple 'shading' if you will) as you illustrated. I must be honest and confess, I meant to add a bit more "black shading" in spots that would receive less camera light. (such as Vanessa's left hand). I may return to add that in.

The background shading (from the characters) is something I was struggling with. As you can see, I was trying to make Vanessa pop out more to us, which is why it looks like she's bigger, but she's suppose to look like she's closer. I'm not sure if I captured that right, and I'm still a little bugged about it. Perhaps a double shadow could help out with this. I may attempt distorting the shadows as well. Not particularly one of my strong points, but may as well try to do so.

I thank you from the critique It has been much useful and enlightening
