Description On the 16th August 1940, near Southampton, Ft Lt James Nicolson's Hawker Hurricane was fires on by a Me 110 injuring him in the leg and one eye.. His engine was also damaged and the petrol tank set on fire (the Hurricane being a mostly fabric aircraft still). As he struggled to bail out another Me 110 flashed in front of him, he managed to get back into the bucket seat and got on its tail, fired his guns and continued until he shot it down..
Not until then did he bail out he was able to open his chute and land in a field but not until he was shot at by members of Home Guard who ignored is calls that he was an RAF pilot..
For this he won Fighter Commands ONLY Victoria Cross..

This Typhoon is painted in the scheme of his Hurricane.. This is the RAFs Synchro pair and this shot was taken at Duxford during the big Battle of Britain show..

Wow, the Typhoon makes the Spitfire look the size of a Cessna. Cool markings, and love that needle nose.

Hi Harry, yes the Typhoon is not a small aircraft to be sure..
They mark one up every year like this.. Each one different.. Look out for them over there, they do get to the U.S. for Red Flag and other meets..

A Spitfire, oh and the second interesting scheme on a Typhoo (after DA4's black period).

Yes that's right.. I've also seen this team fly with a Typhoon with red tail and canards.. Got a photo someplace.
Thanks for the comment.
