The grain is a very good addition for the night atmosphere. Deep and intense fits the scene and the impression of loneliness and quietness.

I might have preferred this if there was someone walking under the closest light in the shot to give it that "human" element, it just seems like the kind of scene you'd see someone (or a couple) walking down at night...

As someone else stated: it's all about personal preference. I love the concept, the angle and the black and white. The lighting looks very mysterious and the negative space is something I always like. I like the reflection on the wood and the border which makes the darker colors even more strong and the entire photo more 'one'.
But yeah, the grain is a little too much for my likings, but all in all, it's a great shot

It's all about preference. I like the grain.
