America's first sweet heart, Shirley isn't among the divas but as a child star she was splendid in her movies.. she is almost 80 years now but she won over the battle with breast cancer and used to be a diplomat for US and Chile.. also wanted to be a politician..i love her dimple and pretty smile..the clothing here required a lot of patience but i'm happy with the result .. thank you and wish everyone a Happy Holidays! i think this will be my last drawing of 2008..

Wonderful portrait, Michelle ! Shirley was my favorite movie star when I was in grade school. We practically grew up together, as we have lived on earth throughout most of the same years. Shirley is three years older than I am.

I am amazed at all the details, especially the details in the clothes. I can't begin to imagine how long it takes you to draw it. How long do you usually spend on a drawing? Hopefully, I'll be able to draw as well as you with more time and practice.

I absolutely loved Shirley Temple when I was a little girl. So I was so surprised when I introduced my own little girl to the darling of my childhood that she said, "but mama! The movies are so stupid!"
I still love Shirley Temple. I don't think the movies are stupid.

this is great! I love the way you've done her hair! how did you get those little flyaways? did you actually leave all those wispy bits white? or use some kind of scratch tool? I've just done a drawing of her too, but the hair on mine is an absolute mess - any tips?

thank you so much for the compliment.. I just saw ur work and for the fact that you don't draw it came out really good ... all you need to do is getting better technically ...try to use variety of tone.. very white to real black.. at least 10 different scales.. and blend them well using the blending materials..and use eraser more like ur pencils.. the shine on the hair and the flyways can be done by rubber eraser cut in an angle like the edge of a blade.. but make sure the eraser is soft.. you can't use the hard plastic ones.. i use Factis brand that says softer.. and for the general erasing gob on the large area use the kneaded eraser...just more practice and the patience.. that's all you need right now.. thank you again!
