first off digimon came before pokemon as a game for boys because girls had tomogachi's.then was turned into tv show where as pokemon started as tv show then became game. second it does not rip off pokemon. pokemons a world while digimon is a story.pokemon follows 1 character that really doesn't change while in digimon everyone grows and changes from their experience. Third digimon is darker with the showing of death not pokemon.

I'm not familiar with Digimon although I do plan on getting back into it but I find this argument really dumb from what I've seen it's mainly "A sucks! B is better!" and then another guy replies "No! B sucks! A is better!"
Also it's not a rip off at all they're just similar so if you're calling Digimon a Pokémon rip off then you might as well call Undertale a Earthbound knock off! Also Digimon isn't the only Pokémon like franchise you know. We have Yugioh (That MIGHT count I'm still not sure about that one) Monster Ranchers, Bakugan and Yokai Watch.
Last but not least franchises can be inspired by another so maybe Digimon was inspired by Pokémon?

I had the same experience as Nostalgia Critic: saw the movie, knew nothing about the show and it's turned me off to the franchise altogether. Then again the movie's character art sucked and looked all sketchy and not very well drawn.

LE GASP! You don't know what's a Digimon is? Okay, let me tell you ^^
Like Pokemon, Digimon was short for 'Digital Monster' where some human kids/children were sucked into the another dimension called Digital World and got themselves a Digimon partner, unlike Pokemon, some Digimon can talk. Anyway, the reason these human children were sucked into this world was to help along with their partners to help save the Digital World from the evil/bad Digimon. Now, for evolution, once again, it just like Pokemon, except this one can de-transform back to their original form. There a four stage of evolution for Digimon: Rookie, Ultimate, Mega and Champion. To transform, they need a device called DigiVice (or Xros Loader in season 6), a pun of 'device' : D

Yeah, it's hilarious how the Pokemon fans are being significantly more disrespectful than the Digimon fans. Which fanbase is butthurt again? Granted, I am seeing a few immature Digimon fans here. Rampage is showing a little bit of butthurt, but the majority of Digimon fans posting here are showing much more maturity and intelligence than most of the Pokemon fans and those clearly taking offense to the stamp are actually right to do so as HookingQueen did state her opinion as fact while using the most generic reason possible to justify her views, giving off the implication that she's never actually seen Digimon and is basing her views purely off of assumption.
