A classification book I borrowed from the Library classed fungi, bacteria, algae with the plants.Keys to the families . This is antiquated, however. See closing paragraph.
The fungi have their own kingdom now,more related to animals than plants. They are not plants that have lost chlorophyll ,and have no genetic relation to plants.
Bacteria are Monerans (I have yet to be convinced that Archaea is a separate kingdom from Monera, even if some require boiling acid to live in).
Algae have been classed into several kingdoms (blue-green algae as protistans, algae mostly in a kingdom, and some are plant-like (Charophyta, kelps...)enough to be classed as plants.
That book would have to be rewritten totally to be republished.
Trust me, I long had an interest in biology, BUT classification systems have changed too much and too often...
