Pikachu! (female style)the tail! made of felt, batting and wire. Made to go along with the Pikachu cosplay ears. also featured in this folder.
Theses were made as part of the things that I am making to sell at my Artist Alley table for Anime Boston.

This is amazing work!! I'm working on making a tail for a cosplay i'm doing and the tail is giving me a hard time. Do you think you can give me some tips on how you made it?
So far I have the lining of the tail done but its getting the fabric on it. I want it to have a nice, clean look like yours does.

but the answer is that when you sew it to begin with you put the right sides together then the lining on top of that I use a really stiff fabric that is actually used to make hat forms. sew it then turn it right side out. Then I usually insert wire and sew it to strategic places inside the tail. If you already have a base (which is sounds like you do) and just need to make a fabric cover for it just sew right sides together and obviously you are going to have to leave a bigger hole in order to get it over your base. And remember to turn in the raw edges when you sew the hole shut.

Oh, and the pikachu tail i'm doing is abit bigger so I guess that makes it alot harder, but I don't plan on having it stand up or anything.

Your tails and ears look so good! Do you happen to have pricing on the ears and tails yet? My friend just may have to find you at the con, because she wants to be Pikachu. Also, I was curious how the tail attaches?

The tails are wired. So as long as you have a belt, waistband, hole in your clothing for it to slip through they just hook on. Although to make Pikachu stand up taller I'd suggest using a safety pin on the 2nd zig-zag as well. If not they just kind of stick out.
Still figuring out buy as a set price but the simpler ears (shinx, mew, marril...) will be $10 and the more complicated (flareon, umbreon, minun, plusle... bigger more annoying) will be $12 tails probably $10 for the cat-like ones, $15 for pikachu (it has a lot of extra stuff in it) Hope to see you at the con.
