Description Chinley nonconformist new chapel. The new is obviously a relative term.
It has a nice old Gothic feel despite being very small don't you think? I guess it's the old graves that make the atmosphere.

Mysterious, creepy and yet so beautiful!
A very well composed photo and I love the sepiatone (...agree with previous about Rackham)

Very relative I don't find it so creepy, more sad and lonely. But then again, ask me to go in at night and I might well change my mind!

I dunno, with the framing of the tree and the sort of delicate decay yet again, I think Rackham.

Old graves are fun. I mean... whatever What I wanted to say: it is creepy in a nice way. Like it was from someone's dreams. Such a dreamlike pace with all those sepia tones. So mysterious and a bit dangerous. Who knows what's lurking inside the chapel

I like that you added the graves and trees. They fulfill the mystery of the chapel. You have the talent to make the common things more important and amazing

(shivers) Definately creepy! Very well done though. I like the post production too, takes it to that next level of spooky.

If you want haunted places you can't miss here in Kent, we have on of the most haunted villages (supposedly) in Britain and the dockyards at Chatham are just plain, bowl loosening, hair standing on end terrifying on the right night!

Thanks a lot. I'll definitely have to have a look at the dockyards.

Apologies for the late reply.

I like the angle, the place itself is quite quaint.

I don't think it's just the gravestones that give it the scaredy feeling. It's also the black black windows with no life and no curtain that gives it a very spooky look. I can just imagine a ghostly wisp standing at one of the upstairs windows...

Wow.
The tonal qualities are what grabbed me first.
Then the composition.
Then the fascnation subject matter - the tree, the chapel, the stones ....
That's a wow shot for sure.

Great picture. Yes i think the old graves have a lot to do with it

What post process did you do, it looks slightly unrealistic? (in a good way)

horai In reply to Popsi [2007-11-06 11:05:49 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot.

I used full Velvia 50 film simulation on the S5 pro which enhances the colours dramatically and then a quadtone to change the shadows and textures. That makes the slightly weird feel with the very individual leaves etc. Finally some minor level adjustment to enhance the effect.

Ahh, thats it with the leaves that i noticed more, it reminded me a little of a HDR picture, with the clear definition at the edges. Thanks for the info

horai In reply to Popsi [2007-11-06 21:47:41 +0000 UTC]

No worries. I have photomatix but don't often take a tripod out with me. Have you tried making a mock HDR image with a RAW file? It's unpredictable but fun.

It looks haunted. Very haunted. The Sapia Tone (It is Sapia Tone, yes?) gives it such a unique feel...and if you look closely, you can see a load of white mist-like discolorations all over the graveyard. Which reminds me of my co-workers talking about going ghost hunting for Halloween. I really did want to go, but I didn't know them all too well. Exploring a supposedly haunted house has been a great interest of mine. I would like to do so one day.
