Afternoon sunlight slips in from the West, illuminating a fairy circles while a growing storm cell approaches from the East

Virtually nothing is known about these mysterious circles as you'll find on Wikipedia - "Fairy circles are enigmatic barren patches, typically found in the grasslands of the western part of southern Africa.

They are most prolific in Namibia, but are also present in Angola and South Africa.[1] These fairy circles consist of round areas barren of vegetation; as yet there is no clear picture as to how they are formed, although scientists are researching the matter. One theory suggests termites as the creator of these circles, but recent studies have stated that there is no evidence termites would cause this phenomenon. In the oral myths of Himba people these barren patches are said to have been caused by the gods and/or spirits and natural divinities.

Studies done by South African scientists shows that these circles are under continuous development. They grow in diameter, expanding to as large as 9 m in diameter, where they mature and "die", filled in by invasive grasses"

Faved...

Strong picture...!
even without the foreground...
just rain storm and plane...
it sets me up...
to prepare...
there is Change a coming...!

Many plants grow in circles...
many mushrooms...
and the ring grows outward...
mushrooms have a: "Symbiosis" with roots of trees...
once they have "taken" what is in roots...
they will go on to other roots...
and only first come back...
when tree roots have replenished energy...
and the roots need the fungi...
to break down matter...
before it too...
can colonize the peace of soil...

Symbiosis...
Dont we people feel a slight connection here...?!
We are depending on each other as well...
Very very old idea...low brain...
we live together...we live safer...
we work together...we produce more...
an' so on...
Symbiosis and synenergy...

When we find pattern and symbols in nature...
we see them as signs...
our beliefs...our signs...

Thank you for this inspirering photo...
Greetings Jakob.

Hypothesis: the ring of viriland grass comes from a single, mutant, extra-virilant plant.
as it grows ti wipes the soil of nutrients in a single generation burst but leaves a circle of descendants around it.
Those in turn wipe the soil of all nutrients and die within a genreation but again leave a ring outside them of descendants.
this goes on over seceral generations leaving a barren hole in the center of a ring of virilant plants?

Would be interesting to return to this location and monitor its growth. Great shot! I take it you got more photos of the storm later?
