Description
This is a watercolor of a Woodcock resting in a pile of leaves in plain site. As long as it doesn't move it's virtually invisible.The drawing took me around 18 hours, and painting over top around 7 hours, so 25 hours to do this fairly small 16"(40cm) x 12"(30cm) painting .... That's long for me .... I'm much faster in oils.
Original for sale for $500.00 unframed, shipping and insurance included, add another $100.00 to have it custom framed.

I have a great respect for people who work well in watercolours. It's a medium I've always really wanted to work in, but I've never really tried it much. Don't know how much is opportunity, lack of someone to show me how, or lack of self esteem. Pencil/pen is something I had to teach myself too (after high school teachers crapped all over me). I guess some day I'll get the courage up to dive in and have a go. 
Do you use tube watercolours, block watercolours or watercolour pencils? Or a combination of all of them?

Just so you know ... We all have our special tallents. You're cross stitching of your friend's desceased cat is really impressive.

It's not that hard ... it's basically a coloured drawing ...... use a hard pencil no softer than HB .... next time I'm using a 2H ...... do your drawing and paint over it with watercolor washes. The paint needs to be thin to show the drawing beneath and slowly built up until you're satisfied with the colour.

Yeah it came out okay. I still prefer oil painting, and yeah the pencil didn't smudge too much ... although I really had to apply a lot of colour to make it not come out dull over top of it. Next time I'll go with an even harder pencil ... maybe a 2H and not shade as dark.
With all those murals you've been doing $500.00 bucks should be peanuts to you Suga Mama.

Took me a few seconds to see the 2nd bird !! I like it that you gave it the same colors as the leaves on the ground, but now it looks very different from the main bird...

I was wondering about that.... but then take a GOOD look to your painting.... In the upperleft corner I see a beak !!! And the leaf really looks like a body. It's a PERFECT bird!
