Description 8" X 10" watercolor on Strathmore Illustration Board of a lonely little fledgling sleeping in her old nest for memory's sake. Sometimes when you've flown the nest you need to return of the comfort and memories of home.

Very emotive and touching. Indeed our past can often be a place we need to return to from time to time.

We have nests here at different times, and a crow kept coming back to his nest and calling for his mother. The woodpeckers drilled a number of condos in a palm tree by the pool, and one of their babies kept coming back after all siblings had flown the nest. Every night at sun down he would come back to the tree, pop in the hole, peek out a few times, and then fall asleep until dawn. You can return home, but too often everything is changed or everyone else has left! Such is life!

So very true. I actually used Google earth, and took a look at where I grew up. Amazingly the house is still there, not very much different from what it used to be. I see several large subdivisions though where the old farm used to be and where once were corn fields and wood lots.
