Physical Appearance:
   Cub hood: A cub born larger than usual, powerful lungs and strong limbs. Paws oversized, flap of skin folds over near toes on front paws. Fur downy and light though there is much of it. Dull in appearance with eyes lighter than the blue of the sky. The longer fluff on the top of his head continues down his neck- Suri says it comes from her side of the family but Kali reminds her they aren’t blood related. Resembles his maternal grandfather in build if only a little stockier. Tail tuft has a wavy texture. Strong and fast once he learns his limits and likes to push them. Resembles paternal side in markings and some facial structure.
   Adult hood: Tall and long bodied. Fur dull and soft, fluffier around the neck. Strong shoulders and legs, lean trunk.

Personality:
Loyal
  His friends have his full protection, word wise or physically. He will stick his neck out for a cause or companion that he believes needs his support. So far this is in the form of not telling parents or tagging along in excursions he knows are bad ideas so he can protect his friends.

Perceptive
  (That one kid in an anime who seems like they’re omniscient and shouldn’t be a kid)
Extremely empathetic
Good problem solving skills
This stems from growing up as a friend to his mom as well as a son. Kali does not censor anything when she talks to Matias, she wants him to be well informed and know the world for what it is. Thus he is often characterized as an old soul or mature for his age, and to many it is off-putting.

Articulative
  Always thinks long before he speaks. Sometimes this shows as him speaking incredibly slowly and many think he could be slow, until they hear what he has to say. This gets better as he ages and he is able to articulate much more quickly, though for now he’s still connecting his mind to his tongue.

Adventurous- Wanderer
  He seems to show more skill in running and hunting-esque games. Imagine an archer and track star if he were human. These are his best skills.

Stubborn
  When he’s got his mind set on something, you have to out stubborn him. Not frequent.

Vocal
  This goes great with being loyal and protective. He’s not afraid to speak his mind because everything he would say has been thought out and proofed so many times in his head. He believes he can support the arguments he makes and if he can’t then he won’t even argue them.
Humble with a touch of boastfulness

History:
   Born to Mwanzo, a lioness from Kalisha, and Erebus, a rogue. Gave his mother some trouble in labor in that he was a bit too large for an easy birth, but was an otherwise healthy cub.

Let me tell you a story, as I’m sure my long absence is deserving of one. I remember grass taller than myself and skies blue and hot, though it was nowhere near as hot as where I live now. The sounds of life in the distance, feeling it thrive all around me. Two friends, a little boy and a little girl who I can no longer remember the names of. The fur on his head was so pale and his smile sincere, and the fur on her was like the most beautiful color of the sunset I’d known. I wish I remember them more. I was not around the pride much, and if I was I was too young to remember.   I remember two others the most. My mother, eyes a paler blue than the sky itself. Fur warmer than sand, than the savanna grass. Voice soothing, she kept me safe.  My father, darker than night. Massive. He didn’t speak much, but he held me so close and he loved me more intensely than I think even my mother did. His eye was olive, and his mane was massive. He did not live in our pride, and soon enough my mother stopped bringing me to him.

She was Kalisha. He was Erebus. She is gone forever. As far as I know, he might be too.

I am alone.

They found me, they took me in and raised me. They saw strength in my paws as I lay dying my a rotting corpse and they carried my bones with them away from my home, cooing that should I live I shall thrive. It was hot. I wanted to die. My cuts burned and I wanted them to let me die.

I reside in the desert now, I was cared for and I grew strong. Whether my soul grew and thrived with my body was a different story. In time I bloomed, from cub to adult. My skills grew remarkable, and I hold my head high for that. I can run. I can hunt. But daytime in the desert is not always the kindest to me.

And so I’m shackled to nights. At least this gives me the freedom to wander.

I am religious. I do not believe in their gods or laws but I need something to keep me going and so I worship. I need someone to make proud, and I would be lying if I were to say it did not feel good to have my manelessness worshipped in such a way. Everyone here… is maneless. And it’s comforting.

Perhaps one day I’ll be a Royal Guard. I’m already taller than everyone else.
