Part of him had wanted this meeting with Ifreit to go exactly as it had. He'd wanted his pride to be torn down and he'd wanted to bleed for Calypso. A little blood was the least he owed to her.

Any other time, his skin would have given way. Any other wolf would have been pierced by that stone. Maybe it'd slipped too soon. Maybe it was just poor luck; he had enough of that, after all.

Or maybe... This was just the first time he'd noticed. It'd been a while since he saw his blood outside of a fight.
