Description ...and imagine his accent to be english. Oh so pissed off, yes he is!

People keep asking what's on Sweden's mug. I'd translate it to "It's not easy to be in shape when you're rich."

More like I'm English and I'm sick of America having it completely reversed when talking about Britain and England; look at it this way, England is Sweden, Britain is Scandinavia; you can say "they're scandinavian", but you wouldn't say "Scandinavian accent" because it doesn't exist.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheReapersApprentice In reply to loppytaffy [2013-04-05 01:08:33 +0000 UTC]

Well then you should start calling America The United States of America.
Technically...it IS considered a British accent.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

loppytaffy In reply to TheReapersApprentice [2013-04-05 08:26:36 +0000 UTC]

The difference with America and USA, is that they have the same name and if you go back four hundred years, they came from the same six or so feeder countries (and of course watching Hetalia you know which six or so that they are).

England, Scotland and Wales do not share that close history, we all have very different cultures, accents and languages. Yes, we speak different languages, and thus there is no "British" accent, because there's no single accent similar enough to the other that is spoken accross the main island (I won't go into the whole British isles, I wouldn't want to confuse you)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheReapersApprentice In reply to loppytaffy [2013-04-06 23:25:59 +0000 UTC]

Excuse me? I'm from the US xD America includes Mexico, Canada, and even all of South America. The USA is just PART of America. So, no. You're wrong. ^-^

I still think you're being picky. America is used the same as Britain. An American accent is referring to an accent from the US, not Canada or Mexico. The typical British accent is referring to an Englishman. I don't get bothered when people say "American" when talking about someone from the US, so you shouldn't get bothered by someone using the term "British" when talking about "English". You're just being picky. End of story.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

loppytaffy In reply to TheReapersApprentice [2013-04-07 00:04:05 +0000 UTC]

The shortened name for the United States of America is AMERICA, it's not wrong to say it.
It's the same name; the American continants and the 49-56 fluctuating states and at least one micronation.

You wouldn't refer to a Canadian accent as American, would you? No, cos everyone would assume you're talking about the States and it sounds stupid. And it'd be damn fucking annoying. As it is with every goddamn Welsh and Scotsman being represented by an English dialect. I am very bothered about British and English being mixed up. They are not the same thing about you sound very ignorant and stupid to imply that it doesn't matter.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheReapersApprentice In reply to loppytaffy [2013-04-09 03:38:18 +0000 UTC]

Lol nooo. The shortened name is USA or US. America is the entire continent consisting of both South America and North America. People just call the US America just like they call England the UK or Britain.

Well one wouldn't consider an Irish accent to be British. Simple enough. And it is you that sounds very stupid because you're being so picky xD Like...seriously. It's ridiculous. Besides, the fact that you would resort to such foul language says enough about you. I, on the other hand, do not NEED to use foul language to get my point across.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

loppytaffy In reply to TheReapersApprentice [2013-04-09 09:55:34 +0000 UTC]

One wouldn't consider an Irish accent to be British because Ireland is not in Britain; it's in the UK (Her Majesty's United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is in the British isles). Also, when talking about a Scottish accent, would you call that a "British" accent, too?

Also you do not "need" foul language to get your point accross, because you don't have a point; America is America and has been since 1607. When talkign about the continants, people say as such.

You strike me as a very close minded and self righteous person (I wonder how you can even like Hetalia; there are 12 female countries and about 50 male; suck it up, there's yaoi). Do youself and I a favour and never leave the States, because you'll just end up offending any nationality you visit.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheReapersApprentice In reply to loppytaffy [2013-04-10 06:39:19 +0000 UTC]

Of course not. That's why you wouldn't consider a Canadian accent American, and yet Canada is still in America.

Wow xD you do NOT know your geography. I do not need foul language because my point is so simple, yet you are so simple minded. America is North America and South America. It consists of Canada, USA, Mexico, Brazil, etc. Need I go on? You don't know ANYTHING about America as far as I know. Tch. And I thought it was the AMERICANS that were considered stupid. Now I know that British people can be stupid, too.

Pssh. I've been to Japan. It is YOU who should stay in your country since you don't even know the difference between US and America. Wow you're such a rude person. (Yaoi and BL are completely different by the way, smart one. Yaoi is porn, BL is fluff. I prefer BL, thank you very much.) You should just go ask a geography teacher. Ask them is the US and America are the same thing. If they're SMART they'll tell you that the US is IN America. Stop trying to think you know everything because you don't. You don't live in America, you live in England. I understand that England is just a PART of Britain, and you need to realize that the US is PART of America. This is completely stupid. Look it up for Pete's sake! It doesn't take a genius to know THAT.
You're quite immature, you know that. How old are you , may I ask?

Here, I'll even look it up FOR you:
[link]
[link] <--This one even includes your side if you scroll down.
[link]
[link] <--Again, comparing countries in Great Britain ALSO.
[link]

I'm surprised that you actually even know HOW to use the internet...or do you? Anyways, I hope that gets my point across. If you have anymore questions, do ask a geography teacher, preferably one that knows what they're talking about. Or, for better reference, just ask the freaking internet. EVERYONE knows that the US is IN America just as England is IN Britain. It's literally as simple as that. Get your head out of the clouds. You must be WAY too into Hetalia that you've made an Ireland or Scotland OC and you feel that calling England "Britain" gets in the way of that, which I understand. I call him England, myself. But you MUST realize that America is ACTUALLY the entire continent. We just CALL ourselves Americans for the reasons in those links.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

loppytaffy In reply to TheReapersApprentice [2013-04-10 10:35:05 +0000 UTC]

It's annoying, isn't it, when people get it wrong and insist that they are right? I know the difference between USA and the continant, I also know that you call yourself American, and there's no other way to refer to your Nationality, therefore it is acceptable to shorten the name of your united states of america to (the united states of) America. I'm not stupid, I actually know quite a lot more about our failed collony than your history teachers will tell you (and boy do I know your history is a load of twaddle, it actually makes me laugh, some of the propagander you are spoon fed).

Y'know what, here's a British Isles history lesson for you, it's made by an American, so I know that there's only a small amount of ignorant ones. [link]

And Hetalia's Britain represents both; England represents Britain outside of the UK in European or world meetings as is true in the real world. FUNimation were specifically asked by the Japanese producers to call him Britain. Making an Ireland OC wouldn't effect this, I'm arguing Britain, not the UK. Through Scotland and Ireland are confirmed as characters.

As for places I've been outside of England?; Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland, France, Spain (x2), three Spanish islands (Ibiza x2), Germany (x2), Austria, Turkey, Canary Islands, Tenarife. And I've actually accepted what each culture has told me about their country, and not argued and told them that they are wrong about their own country. I guess it's just a 'Murican thing.

Oh great. Then I don't care what you say. o-o Because as far as I know, we're basically arguing the same side. You're just going on about it in a VERY rude and stuck-up manner. I DO know about my country, stop saying I don't and you do. You don't have to go off and start saying rude things about my country, because I love it. I'll have you know that England isn't a world power anymore. England is just a tiny itty bitty little country who just finds pleasure in putting other countries down. Every other country has learned to ignore this and not even care what England has to say.

*doesn't care about British isle* That has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

You know what? *throws hands up* Never mind. You're beyond hopeless. I'm done with you. I don't care about where you've been. Europe is SO tiny. All together, it's probably smaller than the US. So congrats.

You...have some SERIOUS problems, darlin'. And do go and start saying I do. *goes to profile* Oh...you're 20. I have lost hope. o-o

loppytaffy In reply to TheReapersApprentice [2013-04-11 09:40:40 +0000 UTC]

England has no power? Lol, okay, commonwealth. If one were to go on landmass alone, Denmark shouldn't have any power and Russia shouldn't be ruling the world, but that's not true, is it? The smaller countries have more to lose, they never give up, never judge a country on landmass alone.
And the only reason anyone listens to America is because the world thinks they need to keep an eye on you in case you, I don't know, try to vote in a persident who would set social development back 60 years? One that would probably throw the world into war by insulting every country. Thankfully that didn't happen.

Europe is biggest continant but whatever. Greenland on it's own is bigger than the US.

You also have a problem; You just don't understand how annoying, biggoted and hypocritical you sound. You're one of the biggest countries in the world with the fewest misconceptions, and yet you still feel a need to belittle the smaller ones, the ones that you actually owe your country to. Heck you even call the French cowards, how ungrateful is that?

This does not surprise me. Although it can be confusing, what with all the names around the East coast borrowed from other countries; like Berlin, Rome, Belfast, Stamfort, Hampshire, Springfield, Dover, Portsmouth, Manchester, Gloucester (and I'd love to hear you try to say that), Norfolk, Florence, Lancaster, York (if I recall you have a New York City and a New York State, like we have London and the City of London, yes? And you have a York as well?), Troy, Warwick (one of the Houses in my high school was called Warwick), Newport, Dunkirk, Durham, Bangor, Nazereth, Ipswich, ...I'm betting you have a Paris, Hamburg, Vienna, Chester (though a Tutor town so I wouldn't put too much money on it), Melbourne, I'm hoping you don't have Williston or Wistaston but they're important villiages in England so it's likely you do. Being the East coast, it's where most European's landed and set up collonies.

Jorvik is in England (or right, this one is a little down on the knowledge; Jorvik was a Nordic, or viking, settlement in Yorkshire, Jorvik is translated to York, for which New York is named, and Gothom is named after New York which was nicknamed Gotham after the Mad Villiage of Gotham in England).

It's not because you live in the 5th bigest country that you can judge everything. If what I said offended you, I am truely sorry but I felt like I needed to tell you. I personnally have no anger with The US.Β
