Description

Lately I am re-reading the whole series of Pratchett books, starting with Discworld and with my most favourite series, that is the whole arc considering Commander Vimes and the Ankh-Morpork City Watch. And as soon as we meet Lady Sybil and her managerie of lil swamp dragons, I recalled astonishingly cartoony and yet so vibrant in details sketches of the miserable creatures from the masterful hand of Paul Kidby, an artist I love the work of to the bits.

Of course I am ten thousand miles below in skill from such a master of the craft, but that never stopped me before, so I decided to doodle variety of Swamp Dragons as a relaxation thing and ongoing little side-project to see how many different cuties I can develop with the help and inspiration of my friends.

The fellow above is Perforabus Cultra, also known as Knife Jaws - docile, very friendly and very sad, since his extremely thin and elongated jawline makes a lot of problems. It’s not easy trying to turn your head and knocking everything around because of how long it is. It’s also sharp and bonelike and extremely durable. The little wings it possess are not even close to being enough to grant him the ability of flight, but when it inflate itself full of exploside gases, the humming of it’s tiny bird can still lift it up and make it hoover aimlessly through the swamps, it’s long muzzle bumping into everything in frantic search of fuel to eat (which contains of anything it can snap at!).

This was the first thing that caught my attention when I went to the 'critiqueable' section of deviantART. I absolutely adore creatures! (I may also have to check out the book series, also.)

I love the concept design for this, one of the many reason why I love books. There are so many designs you can do for characters! The shading is phenomenal and the line-work/placement is superb. He just looks so awesome and yet derpy at the same time. The detail is brilliant, even down to the tiniest pencil stroke.

Great job on this! Keep up the good work.
