I don't know the history in detail, but have an idea any surviving examples were converted back to KV1s by 1942. The high profile can't have helped - doubt they were immune to 88s. Also, I'd guess they might have struggled to fire on the move?

A Panzer 4 Ausf D can't put a scratch on the tank. I did research the KV2's firepower, why didn't they make huge numbers like the T34, it was a assault gun and a heavy tank. Also it can crush the Tiger at 1942 or 1943 like a punch. I doubt it's tough enough for Henschel 129, especially the rear armor.

They didn't make that many because almost all of them were blown-up. While a Pz. IV D can't penetrate it's armor, anything else can. 88mm AT guns, most likely, could penetrate it. Somehow, while it might be able to penetrate a Tiger, the Tiger has the advantage. It doesn't have a humongous turret and would be fighting, in a Tiger's traditional way, from a fortified position (they broke-down so much that that was really their purpose).

It is most defiantly going to die from that 129.

Why is it like every KV-2 I see have that "Za Rodinoy" text on its turret?

I think I pinched the slogan from a scan of the decals that came with a plastic kit for it!

Can't have been a high-expectation occupation, operating a KVII!

Just had to google that! I think they'd converted KVIIs back to Is by the time those Henschels were in use...

Depends if you're in the tank or in the plane.

I imagine the the Henschels would have circled around all afternoon banging away scuffing up the paint while the crew would be looking for second gear!

No idea if the two would have even been around at the same time, but I like a 'what-if'... if they'd just nipped the turrets off, they'd have been doing the Russians a favour, off to the workshops for a KV1 turret fitting!

The KV 2s had gone away by the time the Henschels were on the scene.
The Red Army the Germans where dealing with was a very different animal than the one they encountered in 1941

I wonder how easy it would be to hit a tank like that, from a moving plane? Must've took some training!

Thanks! I have an idea I might combine it with the Henschel 129, also in scraps (historically unlikely I'd imagine - weren't KVIIs worked back into Is by 1942?), a sort of 'KV in a type spot' type scene...
