Description Another commission done I think. Watercolour on 240g paper. 60x40 cm. A real challenge with all that steam. Making me think it is time to try the oil paints next. Used various photos for reference.

You know you might be right, was looking around for info on trains before making this, but could not find much on the types in use during WWI. Did not know where to start so to say. So I settled for something that I though looked good.

Beautiful artwork I love the way you work with the watercolors, the technique you used for the steam is excellent. I still can't believe that it is possible to paint such details, mainly on the planes, with a brush and watercolors. Tell me, how do you do that?

Thank! Small brush and then layering/blending, I also use Schmincke Aqua-fix to make some coats more water resistant. It not perfect though the finish becomes a bit to glossy for my liking. But that's how I do it.

Your moving to water colours did not reduce your ability to get the atmosphere into the pictures. Striking!

It's internet slang for "I enthusiastically like this!" xD

By the way, it's really nice! I just came back from a Great War reenactment, and I love steam trains so very much. Captures the mood excellently!

Yes, I have just gotten into it myself so I'm still pretty green. However, I'm jumping into both World Wars at the same time. The event was the first one of its kind being held in Midway Village in Rockford, IL. They say the participants are supposed to double next year!
