( Out of the blue I suddenly felt the unrelenting need for a new villain OC. And this was the result! Originally her name was going to just be Firefly but… I don’t know. It didn’t have that villainous “oomph” I was looking for. Firefly sounded like a more innocent and sweet type of character while, heh, you’ll soon find out this girl is NOT. So I played around with other words relating to fire and came up with Pyrofly. Initially a little iffy on it, but it’s kind of growing on me X3 Definitely has that more villainous ring to it. Now then, let’s see what new terror has been unleashed upon Jump City shall we? >u> )

Backstory

Most of Cole’s early childhood memories are surprisingly pleasant. Of better times of her and her mother spending time together. It was good. Then at the age of 10, her mother remarried. But as happy as her mother was, something deep down in Cole gave her a bad vibe about the guy. Her mother told her it was a natural feeling and to just give it some time. And so she did, if only for her mother’s sake. But it gradually became more difficult to, especially in the instances whenever she got in trouble and her newfound stepfather found a slap to the face was an acceptable form punishment. Though almost immediately he would apologize, hug her, maybe even shed a tear and everything just went on as normal. But eventually, he no longer apologized. In fact, the slaps gradually begin to turn into closed fists which she received whether having actually done something wrong or not. Even so, she decided not to tell her mother about it so as not to upset her. After all, she did have quite the attitude at times so she probably deserved it. At least that was her thinking on it. So instead, Cole just took it and learned to stay out of his way whenever possible. But at the age of 13, everything got increasingly worse when Cole’s mother was in a fatal car accident. Cole was devastated. And life at home certainly didn’t getting any better. Now left with a kid to raise and gradually piling bills, it seemed like their was no lack of excuses to use Cole as a personal punching bag. But even through all of it, Cole continued to endure without ever fighting back. She felt like that’s what her mother would want, to be the “better person” and all that. And so, she simply kept her feelings bottled up inside. That, however, all changed at the age of 16. After coming home from school one day, she came into her room to find that her mother’s music box was gone. It was the last thing that she had of hers, the only thing to remember her by and the only thing that made this living nightmare bearable. And her worthless stepfather had pawned it off for a quick buck. Cole was livid… no. It was more than that. All the utter hate and unbridled rage she felt for this piece of scum exploded in a way she never expected. Seconds later she found herself in a fiery inferno, the house completely engulfed in flames and nothing but a small pile of ash where her stepfather had been. But oddly enough, she hadn’t been rendered to ash as well. In fact, looking down at herself she saw herself completely covered in flames, and yet, the fire didn’t burn. Upon closer inspection the flames actually seemed to be emitting from off her. Her meta powers had awoken in her fit of unmitigated fury. Understandably confused, Cole just snuck away as her home was reduced to nothing but embers and charred wood behind her. But as she left, oddly enough there was no guilt or sorrow felt over what had just occurred. In fact, etched across her face was the biggest smile she had had in years. All her problems had been solved. Just like that. And all it took was a little fire. Something she seemed to have control of now. Oh yeah, she could make this work. As such, Cole spent the next few years in and out of several different gangs, learning and experimenting more with her powers through various crimes. However, currently she now works alone as the gangs she used to affiliate with eventually outlived their usefulness and, well, had to be incinerated. It was nothing personal of course. She’d just grown used to the feeling of burning those alive she no longer saw useful. Is that so wrong? So oddly enough she doesn’t receive many requests to join alongside other villains anymore. But she’s fine with that, she’d much rather work alone anyways. But as destructive and merciless as she’s grown to become, Cole doesn’t see herself as much for the “take over the world” type of villain. No.

She would much rather see it burn.

Powers/Skills

Fire Manipulation: If not already apparent, Cole has the ability to conjure up and manipulate fire to her will, which she can even use without having to go into her full fire form. And in addition to creating fireballs and even her wings she can also create different fiery weapons such as knives, whips, bombs and pretty much just anything else that can effectively maim or kill someone.

Smoke Exhalation: This is an ability she can only do while in her normal form. When found in a tight situation or just in the need of some cover, Cole can exhale and emit a thick, heavy cloud of smoke to quickly encompass a room in a heavy haze within seconds.

Flame Resistance: Even when in her normal form Cole is practically immune to all forms of fire and burning. Even when it comes to explosions she can just shake it off like it were nothing.

Weaknesses

- Her first evident weakness is that to water or anything else that can extinguish her flames. And when her flames are put out while she’s in her fiery form it’ll cause intense pain to her.

- While Cole can conjure different weapons within her fire, she still isn’t formally trained in combat so a more skilled fighter can easily overcome her.

- Cole’s powers extend a lot from her own energy. So when she begins to tire out her flames will lose strength or extinguish altogether. Even so, her own endurance and sheer stubbornness will keep her going and fighting until she’s either restrained or knocked out.

- Cole has an extreme case of Cleithrophobia (the fear of being trapped). Set somewhere that doesn’t contain a visible exit and she’ll immediately start to panic. She’ll burn down a place to create an exit if she has to. This stems from her stepfather having constantly locked her in her room, a closet or whatever was convenient enough to get her out of his sight.

Personality

Opposed to what her fiery powers might imply, Cole is actually fairly level headed and quiet in her personality. To an extent. While she chooses to keep her emotions and feelings to herself, except for the ever present helping of attitude and sarcasm, it really doesn’t take too much to bring out that heated temper of hers. But on a normal basis, she tends to blend into the background and overall seems apathetic about most things. Except when it comes to fire. Incinerating buildings or just THINKING about incinerating something is when she’s at her happiest and about the only time she ever produces a true smile. Even if it is a crazed, scary and malevolent one.

- She always carries a pack of cigarettes with her wherever she goes. Although she could probably be classified as an avid chain smoker, she mostly uses the cigarettes as an excuse for a convenient way to constantly be setting something on fire.

- Has a tattoo of a firefly between her shoulder blades.

- Although she kills and burns practically anything and anyone that gets in her way, for reasons she’s not even entirely sure on she just can’t seem to bring herself to hurt a child.

- She normally doesn’t reveal her last name as she doesn’t want to be tied back to her past. She’s believed to have burned alongside her stepfather and she chooses to keep it that way. She finds it an almost symbolic way of having the old Cole “dead”.
