Last night Sheryle and I were finished with our tasks of the day a bit early and decided to watch a movie. We agreed on Miyazaki's classic, Spirited Away. I haven't watched this movie in twenty years. I remembered that it was weird, but weird in a way that was fun, and that I loved it. However, twenty years is a long time and I wasn't sure if it would be as good as I remembered. Well, it was not as good as I remembered, it was infinitely better! I found myself loving it so much more now than I ever did as a child. Truly, this is one of the best and most wholesome movies you could ever watch!
This movie perfectly blends the macabre with the wholesome and conveys ideas like the power of love and overcoming evil with goodness and humility in a way that I have rarely if ever seen accomplished better. This is a Studio Ghibli classic, and if you have not seen it I highly recommend it, if you have seen it, I highly recommend rewatching it.
This movie transports you to a fantasy world of adventure and intrigue in a way that few movies can, and it's impossible not to love the protagonist as she continually overcomes hate with love, evil with good, and bitterness with kindness and compassion. Parts of this movie are definitely tear-jerkers but the whole movie is thoroughly enjoyable.

As an aside, I know some people on my page don't like anime, well, I don't care. If you're too distracted by disliking an aesthetic to appreciate good storytelling that's your problem, keep that to yourself, please.
