My version of the ElegantSteel theme: [link] for VanillaEclair 5.0.It's not finished and contains some minor bugs. I'm releasing it now, since I'm not sure when I have the time to continue on the theme.
If someone would like to continue/contribute on the theme I would be grateful! Since theres some boring parts left to do. And theres some other stuff I havent manage to get right to.
I hope you like it anyway!
Btw! If you try the theme, please report back to me if your it makes you phone slower. My Hero feels a bit slower, but I havent figured out if its the theme or something else.
Edit: The dock image is included in the ZIP-file.
Edit II: Flash via recovery. And dont forget the nandroid backup before!

If you have a custom recovery should be able to create a flashable ZIP file.

This theme is absolutely amazing. But i can't use it because my device is HDPI. Would it be hard to make a port for HDPI devices? I could try.... Are there some guides to android themeing?

I think there is some similar version of this in a HDPI version over at XDA. You can also find info about making your own themes there.

Im using a HCT Hero with the firmware VanillaEclair 5.0, based on Cyanogen 5.0.8.
I dont think it will work, but it wouldnt be hard to port it. Theres a script/app-thingy on the XDA forum wich makes porting to other firmwares easy. You should check it out.

Tthe pop up and the status bar is nice. One thing I hate is the default progress bar style. If you can just change another style(not just the grandiant color), it's perfect.

If you're not familiar with code, I think I can do that for you, as long as you provide the images.
Here's the method to modify the progress bar.
You first need to decompile framework-res.apk by using "apktool".
Then edit "progress_horizontal.xml" under "drawable" folder.
Here's an example of "progress_horizontal.xml"
since we can't add new stuff to it, I use "battery_charge_fill_empty" as the progressbar's background and "battery_charge_fill_warning" as the foreground. If you just copy and paste the code, you need to edit these two images.
After editing, just recompile and take all those you have editted.

quick question. the screenshot shows "ringer volume" popup with a blue progress bar instead of the default orange (stock android) or green (in sense)...
any idea where i should look to change that color? (which may include the progress bar when toggling brightness, volume, etc.)
I'd like to make it blue but don't know where in the apk i should be editing this...

I checked that out and ran the hex color values online but I did not find any orange stuff...

Well, you probably missed something. The color has 8 digits, the first two stands for alpha, and the others are the color.Take #FF000000 as an example, FF means no transparent and 000000 means black.

If the xml files are in drawable, then mostly they're not related to hdpi or mdpi. So, you can.

Copied over the files to my Magic and it wouldn't boot anymore.
Since I don't know how to create a MetaMorph Theme, I'm giving up on this.
