Wow, you did a great job shading these!
Which program did you use, and did you use a blur effect or a soft brush?

Ah... ok ok... interesting, I should try that.
My method is to shade with a semi-hard brush (in photoshop), then use the blur or smudge tool to smooth where necessary. Gaussian Blur is very useful too.
Thanks for giving me some insight.

Actually lately i have been using quite a different method as well ... by applying the shading on a different layer covering all the base color area then using an Eraser brush to ( remove/modify ) the shading layer were i suppose the light will hit.
It works well if you are shading using a single shade color ... it basically allows for fast modification because the left mouse button erases and right one un-erases .. in paintshop of course ( and the eraser has an opacity modifier of course )

What i heard is that some people like to work from light to dark and other like to work from dark to light, i used to paint shade by darkening the base color gradually (light->dark) but when i tried to do it the other way by putting shade then erasing where the light hits (dark->light) it felt more comfortable and easier to me ... so i guess in the end it depends on the preference of the artist.
