Description Reproduced 35mm Slide

In early July 1993 I shot an eastbound unit coal train rolling through Ft. Laramie, Wyoming as a classic Great Plains supercell thunderstorm builds in the background. Power for the train is BN SD40-2 7127 (to BNSF 7127), C30-7 5541 (to BNSF 5541), C30-7 5065 (to BNSF 5065) and C30-7 5106 (to BNSF 5106).

Classic BN all the way, totally awesome! (Like what I shot at the east end of the system!)

Nice contrasts with the storm in the background I really like these old photos for some reason, they ar just so completely oldschool compared to modern digital

You might want to fool around in PhotoShop and soften the sky. I have been playing around a little and just figured out that I can soften the sky and get rid of the grain where it shows up most and sharpen the train detail.

That what I did in the ceiling shadows of In The Shop" . Made the rest of the picture stand out a little more. I tried cleaning it up more but then it looked like a photo-manip.

Grainy, but hellaciously awesome! Those 6-axle Dash 7s were rare even 16 years ago.

Most of them ended their days hauling coal out of the PRB.
