Snowstorm is the only child of Empress Mi Amore Cadenza and Emperor Shining Armour. He was born years after the Crystal Empire became and independent state, long after the strain of ruling a nation had changed his parents from the outwardly caring ponies they once were. They were concerned with their nation, and with raising a suitable heir. They were very strict when it came to their son, and wanted to raise him to be a "proper". Snow never felt particularly close to his parents, and often felt trapped living with them and their expectations. The expectations he knew he wouldn't be able to uphold.

Snow Wish never wanted to rule over the Crystal Empire. He was disgusted by monarchy, and hated being prepared his whole life to take a role he never wanted. He didn't want to be any different to the ponies who served his parents. He was always extremely talented at sword fighting, and wanted to be a knight, like his father had been before his was Emperor. Snow hadn't seen his father in those days, of course, but he imagined his father to be great war hero and aspired to be like him. Shining Armour didn't approve of Snows ambition of becoming a knight, as though he had forgotten his time as one, and where the two could've formed a bond they instead grew even more distant. Snow still trained in combat, but not with his father.

The only thing Shining Armour disapproved of more than Snow's reluctance to be the heir to the Crystal throne is his transsexuality. Snowstorm was born wrong, missing parts and having ones that weren't his own. And everyone thought him to be a girl. He knew he wasn't, and after some time having a body of the wrong sex had become unbearable. He had told his parents only to be met with rejection. The Empress and the Emperor knew fully well that being born of the wrong sex was a real condition, that there was science behind it. Their own nephew had magically acquired a male body not so many years ago. Snow's confession had made them look back and see the signs. But they refused to accept it. They Empire was very conservative, a transsexual amongst the ruling family would never be accepted. And besides, Cadense and Shining Armour didn't want to lose the daughter they thought they had.

The only person he really felt close to was Whiskey Star. Snow's parents disapproved of him, but they saw that he was basically his only friend. Snow met him when he stormed out of the castle one day after he had an argument with his mother. He ran into Whiskey and he offered to make him feel better. He let Snow into his mother's wine shop and they talked and drank for hours. Snow Wish enjoyed having casual and informal conversations with someone who treated him as a pony and not a princess. Whiskey Star was the first person Snowstorm came out to.

Fun Facts:

1. Snow is straight (boy who likes girls). He has had lots of crushes, but hasn't asked anyone out because he feels he would never be considered worthy.

2. He has below average magical ability, however there is one spell he is exceptional at. He can create a sword from magic, and can use it well. The spell is notorious for being a daunting one, but surprisingly Snow doesn't find it draining at all.

3. Snow doesn't believe in monarchy. He thinks those in power should earn their place. He knows his parents climbed into their places as Emperor and Empress from being regular ponies, but he doesn't think their children should be the ones to eventually take over the Empire.

4. Despite being a trans stallion, Snow is actually taller than the average stallion. This is probably due to him being an Alicorn. He is tall and well built as a result of his constant combat training, however he is an absolutely horrible flyer.

5. Snow knows how to play the piano, the violin and the cello. He's been playing music since he was very young. When he was younger, his parents signed him up for different lessons to make him more "high class", from manners, lessons in how to dress as a Princess, and learning to play fancy classical music. He actually enjoyed the last one.

Relationships:

He has a very strained relationship with his parents. For years, they have made him feel like he wasn't enough. They have always been trying to make him the "Perfect Princess", scolding him for the smallest of mistakes. This took a toll on his confidence and self esteem. When he came out as trans the didn't take him seriously, causing him to sever ties.

His best and often only friend is Whiskey Star. Whiskey was always there for Snow, and had stuck with him no matter what. He was taken aback and pleasantly shocked when Whiskey accepted him as a real man, and he is thankful beyond words for that. A lot of time his time with Whiskey can be a powerful form of escape from his home life and parents.
