Six years after Applejack and Rarity tied the knot, and seven after the birth of AJ’s daughter, Peachy Pink, little Moonstone was brought into the world.

Though the two mares had discussed expanding the family in that time, a new foal is a major life change and their careers took precedence. AJ had Sweet Apple Acres to take care of while Rarity had her growing chain of boutiques. Besides, raising Peachy had proven to be quite a handful so they felt satisfied as mothers for quite some time.

Eventually though, the happy couple decided to move forward with adding another member to their family. With help from the Crystal Queen Cadance, a leading expert in love, sex, and gender spells, Applejack was transformed into a stallion for one very fun-filled weekend. Rarity was ecstatic to be pregnant. The nesting, the bonding, the healthy hooves and mane! The glow!

Well, Rarity ended up having a grueling, nightmare pregnancy, with lots of morning sickness and bed rest. After 11 months, she was quite ready for it all to be over. (and ready to get her figure back!) The labor was just as intense, lasting around 22 hours. Rarity swore up and down that she’d never get her hopes up again and that this was the first and last time her body would undergo such horrors.

“Magic of friendship, yes, but there is no magic of pregnancy, darling!”

She recovered with lots more bed rest and TLC, with Applejack and little Peachy taking care of the foal. Peachy had been super excited to be a big sister, but had been unusually apprehensive for a seven year old.

“What if the baby doesn’t like me, mama?”

“Oh sugarcube, he’s gonna love you. An’ yer gonna love him too.”

Indeed, the moment Peachy lay eyes on the tiny, gurgling bundle of white, all her nerves melted away. She had known love for her mothers, her Granny Smith, her countless family members, and her friends... But this was a new love. One with a fierce and mighty desire to shelter and keep safe. She promised she would always be there for her little brother, no matter what.

Note: Sometimes my unicorns will have cloven hooves. Sometimes they won’t. It depends on how I’m feeling regardless, I do headcanon unicorns to have cloven hooves and lion’s tails. I just might not always draw them that way. My inner art history nerd encourages you to look up The Hunt of the Unicorn to see these features! Gorgeous work uwu

P.S., can I just say, fuck horse anatomy it took me quite a while to figure out horses sitting + their legs lmao nonetheless, it was a learning experience and I enjoyed drawing this!
