I have wanted to draw Tyrion for a long time too. This is a great representation of Tyrion!

I'd love to see you do at least another portrait of this amazing actor. This just whets the appetite for further visions.

I think it's drawing what appeals to you. I never know what is going to reach out to me. Sometimes, I would recreate a picture as a sketch; other times, I'd "wing it", often surreal or abstract but often psychedelic. I've used crayons, tempera paints, pencil, ballpoint pens, felt-tip pins, markers, and whatever else looked interesting. I don't paint anymore; that just doesn't appeal to me. Generally, it's the other media. I love doing collages, too, lots of cut-and-paste/tape.
I have decided that I'm going to do a series of sketches of the people I have met at conventions, not only from "Star Trek" but other series. I also am considering sketching some of the authors I met at Archon, a convention in St. Louis that guests SF/fantasy/horror writers and artists. I don't know if they hold those anymore. I was so lucky to meet some of my favorites. Sadly, I never got to meet Ray Bradbury, but I'd love to do some portraits of this amazing gentleman from my home state of Illinois.
I know that, several decades ago when I was a schoolteacher, my students wanted drawings after seeing some of mine. I had to tell them I simply couldn't do it though I wanted to very much. That was a beginning of some of the worst of my illnesses; I knew something was happening to my body and my mind, but it would be a very long time before it was diagnosed. I wish that I could have done sketches for them. I understand demands that become too much. I let it happen when I was illustrating fanzines. I turned out to be quite popular and was inundated with requests. Had I been able to do it, I'd have been so happy. But, I had to face reality, and I'm still facing it as plans I make fall apart. I'll be thrilled to do even one acceptable drawing. I think it would give me confidence.
You are young and have a full life I imagine. Friends should understand that you might want to do it but that time and what life throws at us can interfere no matter how much a person loves creating. Good luck always to you! Don't let pressures lessen the enjoyment you find in your art.

Good for you! I wish that I had focused more on my art as I started through college. I tended to do it to fill time. Back in the early Seventies, my mother was in the hospital a very long time. I would be in the waiting room or in her room keeping her company, and I did a lot of sketching then. One I drew was the portrait of Yvette Mimieux in "The Black Hole". I did a lot of psychedelic-type work while in the waiting room when my father, maternal grandfather and maternal grandmother were sort of doing "musical beds" in the Intensive Care Unit. I met another art-lover during the visits, and we shared art with each other and with those in the waiting room. I recall that he liked to do the Big Daddy Roth-style of characters and cars, which gave me some smiles with their goofiness.
I want to regain that feeling of being lost in my work. I'm sure that, once I can use my right hand completely, art could help me get my mind off some of my pain.Β
Also, I might be able to return to playing the bowed psaltery and discover how many melodiesΒ I remember. Music therapy can be a big help, especially because the way I hold the psaltery is somewhat like the harp, whichΒ isΒ one of the main instruments in suchΒ therapy. My psaltery is very harp-like.
I keep hoping and dreaming, and my mother said that counts for a lot.

Wow beautiful. It looks so much better than I thought it can be.Β
I think there's no single mistake and every element is exactly where should be. You brought life into this drawing. I'm so impressed. I really enjoy watching this picture. Great jobΒ Β
And I have one question to you: are you going to take part in contest from DA about "Artist Journey"?

This is very well done. This character is so intelligent and played so well by Peter Dinklage. I love your rendition of the character.

No problem. I love the detail. Did it take long to render. Were there other drafts?

I think it is cool that you let us see the source. Many artists wouldn't do that. Again, I must say that your picture is excellent. Do you watch Game of Thrones?

I am only on the third, so forgive me if I don't always know what is going on yet. It is such a high quality bit of entertainment.
