Somewhere far away on the mountains overlooking Equestria, in a twisted land shrouded by mists..--
Whew. This one was exciting. I hope we'll see Scorpan making a friendly entry in S5, after all the ruckus his brother rouse.
I ain't got much to say technically about this one, it was challenging, it was fun, it's me going all out on environments which I love to do so much but haven't really recently. My style and knowledge has changed quite a bit just lately, and I dare to say that the quality might even be a tad volatile right now when I'm still experimenting with a lot of stuff. I ain't gonna probably use colors as strongly as I did in the Steven/Rarity piece, but still I want to knock myself off from the too desaturated style, more so now when I realized how fun it's to go all out with color.
Character design was interesting thing, since we've not seen actual FiM version of Scorpan, just the simple storytelling version. I wanted to keep the proportions but still get the anatomy out there, and I ended up doing a very rough overall illustration of Scorpan as my own reference:Β sta.sh/022vfy7p06uu

I love the progression of contrast, color and saturation you've done toward the distant mountains.Β Having them be bright blue is a little unconventional but i really works, especially with the red/grey in the foreground, it really reminds me of the color progression in certain evening skies (dusky at the horizon and going through a sort of rainbow to a brighter blue overhead)

Wow....this is amazing! At first I thought it was Tirek all the way over there in Tartarus, but I read the comments a little and someone said that Twilight was way off in the distance there, and if there was all the smoke and stuff, it meant she was there fighting Tirek. That is way cool.
A season or so before Tirek showed up in Friendship is Magic, I watched an old My Little Pony movie called Rescue at Midnight Castle. Both Tirek and Scorpan are in there (with Tirek as the bad guy), and when I realized after a little research that Tirek in Friendship is Magic was the same Tirek who'd appeared in Rescue at Midnight Castle I was pretty excited there had been another throwback to the old My Little Pony.

I like how you put the landscape just right with the setting. Also it's wonderful to be able to see where Scorpan and Tirek came from and the distance.

Do you think Scorpan's even still alive? I mean, the story did take place over a thousand years ago.
And true Tirek was alive, but that might've had something to do with him being in Tartarus.

General concensus seems to dictate that creatures like Discord, Tirek and Scorpan just live a VERY long time.

I decided to watch the g1 episode that featured these two just a few days ago and I actually liked itΒ a lot! Scorpan needs more art and this is just amazing!

Not many know about Scorpan and in the context of G4 no one know anything about him. He quickly fell into the realm of Starswirl (heard about and sounds really awesome but a big mystery) no one really know If Scorpan is still alive by the finale. Tirek lived that long because he was in Pony Hell. Scorpan got to live his life.

I did research on the G1 characters about a year ago cause i heard that gen was acceptable, but i never got the interest enough to watch anything of the first generation till after the season finale. ^^' Yet I'm glad i did the research cause i leapt in my seat when i heard the names! XD Scorpan is a great character i'm a bit sad that they didn't give him as big of a role but i still love the episodes!

Yeah out of all the non-pony protagonists (and their are a good number of them in G1 that aren't human either) Scorpan was the coolest because he wasn't watered down so people knew he was a good guy and they didn't make look good either. They made him look like a monster. (Kinda upset that they went for the cursed prince bit at the end but I'm glad that Scorpan has always been Scorpan in G4 version) a few other villains that are super popular in G1 if you haven't looked is Grogar and The Smooze. Grogar is a Powerful goat king and a necromaner whose entire kingdom was pulled into another dimension filled with darkness. The Smooze is a living flood who grows with the more it eats (trees, houses, animals, ponies and everything in between) those that survive the attacks become blinded with hatred. The Smooze even ate the Rainbow (the thing that killed Tirek) and kept moving. The entire movie was every living thing screaming and running for their lives as the world was being devoured by The Smooze. It would be awesome if one of them made a return in G4

I have indeed seen the other enemies and they all are great nemesis that would make a nice return! and yeah the prince thing was a bit cheesy but yup Scorpan for the win! lol

I honestly think that out of the two The Smooze would be a cool one. Nothing can stop The Smooze! (Which is why they did a cop out to stop an unstoppable monster but it was cool either way.)
