Lucky?
It's not about lucky? - maybe a bit, but it's not the main factor here.
I have been drawing anime style since 2007-8 (I'm not sure anymore), I drew a lot with mouse, first was mostly pixel art, and chibis, I started selling them on the average of 8-10 points, them slowly increased to 500 and more (and on the very beginning I did all for free).
Commissions started working out better after 2010 when I got my tablet - because the process was faster, but my prices wasn't too much as well.
And fanarts showed up more after 2015...
All of that was made on the basis of working hard and always trying to improve.
So now I ask you, what are you doing to show your art to the world and to get better?
Are you challenging yourself?
Do you join chat on streams, post your art in groups, talk to people about art?
Don't be so sad about your own stuff, it will reflect on the works, keep on working hard, you can't get better or be "lucky" to have costumers and fanarts from night to day. All of that takes time and patience, so please don't give up.
Also some of us needs more time than others, so if 10 years don't be enough for you, maybe you need to change the process, search new stuff and change your mindset, until you find an way that work out and you start feeling like growing ^^
