Description An old abandoned building in Seattle, it was torn down a while ago, last I saw there was still just an empty lot in its place. [link]

An amazing art, the contrast is beautiful, i must say it truly brings attention. But the lighter side of the building brings in a little more attention then the shadows. I personally would have liked to see the shadows a bit more, to see more detail. The windows glance the light too, which bring more attention to the bottom then the stop witch is fairly shadowed; Also if the photo was brought down a bit more you would be able to see what in near the grass/dirt/sidewalk/etc. like that gate way would of showed more attention then. Overall it is a lovley piece and have no more critique about it. *note it is a very original piece, not seeing many more old buildings around. I give it high ratings <3

Your welcome :3 It looked so much like my fire house that was recently torn down.

The thing that caught my eye first was the colors and the dramatic feel of the picture, probably added by the dark clouds that contrast with the light building (that it also colored very prettilly, the yellowish, warm tone is really great to me). I'd say this is the main positive of the photo.
Anyway, I don't really like the composition.. the building seems to be too tight in the picture and it's a pity we can't see larger part of it and it's not cut well at the bottom.. but I understand that it's sometimes very hard to capture the whole building.

Thanks! Capturing the whole building was problematic because the building was fenced off, and has connected (and much less aesthetic) buildings on each side. I appreciate the critique though!

I really like the coloring of the image, it suits it as well as it underlines the old feeling.
The composition is not bad, though I would have preferred a more interesting composition, maybe you could have done this by adjusting the angle to a more steep one.
I think the sky could look great, but it is not enough lightened for that, so it moves very much in the background while I think it could have enhanced the mood.
The light on the building though is very good, so the trick would have possibly been to balance those too out.

It is surely not a bad image, but I think it could have been done more interesting.

There is much more good to say then critiques here. I will try not to bore you with the normal "Awesome Photo" comment. Great lines, use of color, perspective, and capture of decay. I really like the shots overall feel, very classic with the twinge of modern due to the graffiti. Here would be my changes: Definitely a border, thin black and maybe even opaque border inside of the outside black border. (Example :thumb117811004e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" /> Second, I think the aperture was set to the lowest possible setting? 22 or so. I think you would pull more detail out of the shot by using 11-12 instead. As a pure photo that's all I can really say. I think HDR results would be interesting to see as well with some tone mapping done on the sky. Great shot!

There is so much to look at, but so little I can say. Not at all that I don't like it. But I just adore it. This brings out my artists eye and I can sure say this would be something I would post on a wall in my house. Very nicely done. Love the colors and ton of this as well.

Like the dark contrasts and shadows, only the whole outside abnadoned building been done to death. i wouldve liked to have seen a contrast between the "dead" building against something "alive". Like nice bright flowers laying against its dead walls. or a person in dark robes holding a bright green living plant outside its windows. something to show that it couldnt be saved and something else was.
