Description
Those were difficult times for the Vortex, their leader Neyzan had been defeated by a younger and stronger hybrid called Darius, on a failed attempt on convincing him on joining the cause againts humans. Now the Vortex had less hunting territory than ever, and many of them started to think their leader was weak, and not totally compromized with the Vortex cause, because their leader did not even had the Vortex mark on his skin like everybody else.

Dheera was always with him, no matter if Neyzan was humillated like that, but it was just because Dheera is not really smart. The rest of them were tired of the false promises of Neyzan on expanding their territory and become the most powerful clan of hybrids around the E.M.
That had been already taken by Cilt's new leader.

On a desperate act to recover the faith of his followers, Neyzan took one of the humans he kept as prisioneer, and obligated them to draw on his hood skin the Vortex mark with a knife, the human, fearing of it's life, did it. Just to be killed by Neyzan once they have finished.

His brutality impressed everybody, letting them know that there was no Vortex cause without him, and that he would give his last breath to see hybrids finally dominating the E.M. and the rest of the world.
No one doubth his words since then, and was both loved and feared for that.
But at least, there was Dheera to help him heal his wounds.

A little of backstory of Neyzan, the Vortex leader. This will not affect your experience on the next chapters as it has no important spoilers ;3 just wanted to explain why Neyzan does not have a regular Vortex mark but has a scar instead, and showing a bit of the relationship with Dheera. They are not mates, but as Dheera has more animal behaviour he is not afraid of showing care of his leader, licking his wounds is the only way hybrids can help eachother in that situations.
