There is no explaining this. I wanted to draw a cat with a boy. The scene was going to take place in ye olden times to be a change of pace from my usual future settings. Well this is what happened. I don't know what's up with the feathers. He's a hunter and hes got leather on. I guess they're surfing or something.Related content

Yes, it looks a little odd.
The key to coloring is just finding planes. Think of how you would shade a cube once you determine the light source. Now imagine that cube has more sides and planes.

thanks! I don't hate how this turned out, but I feel like I rushed into it and neglected some areas. I guess not all of my characters need to have a nice face.

True. Of course, I would dream of coloring as good as you. I can draw and upload pieces very quickly, but when it comes to coloring images and giving them another degree of depth... I might as well be finger painting.
The only thing I might comment on is the angling which shows off the proportion of the male character in this piece. You know, since it's a "camera angle" from above. That said, it's small potatoes.
