I really recommend it. It's actually pretty friendly when it comes to just playing it for the story. The game stays in a good pace that keeps up with your characters. For example, your party's average level (let's say Squall and two others) is level 16. That means the average level of the enemies you face (boss battles included) are modified to fit your party level. It's really a fun (but slightly slow-paced) game, and it shows the story's morals through character development. So yeah, if I personally were to rate it overall, I'd give it 7.6 Lionhearts out of 10 Lionhearts.
But it's all based on what you like. If you want a challenging experience, sure, pick up FFVIII sometime. But if you want a battle system that's a little more friendly, then I'd suggest FFX. But I'll shut up now. As a FF Fan sometimes I can go on and on about things.

Well to be honest, I've owned FF8 for a while now. I've just been playing catch-up on old RPG's whenever there's a dead period in games. FF8 is next on my list but I haven't had that dead period to play it yet. FFX was good, but I think my favorites in the series would be 6, 9, and 12. I guess that means FF XV will be the next great one!

I've yet to get the details on XV, but to be honest, I really wouldn't recommend XII unless you were doing it for the story. :/ That's the only reason I played it, got to the final boss, then found out that IX was released on the PSN. I haven't gotten back to beating it, either... Huh. Lol

Some people don't like 12 because it's so different, but I really feel like they nailed the gambit system. I think the characters in 6 and 9 really stand out above the rest of the series though. As for XV, I was making a point that my favorites tend to be multiples of 3 (6, 9, 12, 15).

Gambit system can be really fun... if you're trying to collect all the gambits. It's also fun in general, I agree. I just don't agree with the battle system... It felt too much like World of Warcraft.
I didn't catch that, the multiples of three thing. Thanks for explaining it to me. Lol I suppose if 3 was the beginning number and it ended at 15, then that means there are 5 numbers to work with. And in total, that makes 45 if added together. And if you took that 45 and divided by the sum of 5 you'd get 9, and therefore Final Fantasy IX is the best game ever. Lol

Oh I actually beat FF VIII last month. It was pretty good but I think the story kind of stopped being interesting halfway through. Also, other than Squall and Rinoa, the cast was really bad. I mean, I liked the dream world cast much more. Still, I enjoyed it for the most part.

Yeah XIII definitely doesn't live up to the rest of the series. The game looks and sounds great (one of my favorite battle themes) but everything else is lacking. My personal favorites are 6, 9, and 12. If this trend continues, 15 should be AMAZING.

Its not as good as people say it is. Whether or not youll like it depends on whether or not you have the patience for dealing with the Junctioning system which either makes the game alright but frustrating, to making the game far too easy with little challenge to be found. The story is nothing spectacular with plot contivances throughout (what are the chances of finding an abandoned pristine-condition ship floating through space to save when your about to die of air-loss?), I mostly just like it for the soundtrack. Just a friendly forewarning

Well...thanks for that spoiler there. I come to expect lame coincidences in storytelling all the time. Hell, even a more modern game like Uncharted 3 is just bursting with convenience. I assume I'll enjoy it enough once I start playing it. It's got to be better than XIII at least.
