No problem! It's an awesome group pic! It's too bad there's no second group pic with Riptide, Ramses III, Dawson, Raven, Chin Wo, Blast, Thanatos and Senator.

It's interesting. Ever since I started doing fan stuff for EC, people have urged me to do stuff based on CFTD. That's ok, but I didn't play that game untill a few years ago. That's why it's not a huge part in my world yet.

Oh, I understand. I haven't actually played Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side myself. I just think the CFTDS characters are just as cool as the Eternal Champions originals!

I've played it, but somehow I didn't like it as much as the original. I guess it's has to do with my age. The wow facor would have been greater had I played it back in the days after the original came out. Yeah the characters are cool. I especially like Blast and Riptide from that game ^^

I was fortunate enough to pick up both EC and EC:CftDS back in the glory days of the Sega Genesis and the Sega CD. Β CftDS not only introduced the four new fighters and the Dark Champion, but it also beefed up both the Eternal Champion (with four new elemental forms) and the original fighters (with various new attacks, changed attacks, counters, combos and the now-dreaded Overkills and Cinekills). Β My homeboy Trident got a new Dashing Trident attack with CftDS, and I was quick to chain it into a horrifying Plasma Ball/Dashing Trident/Trident Drill/Jumping Mid Kick combo. Β And lo, did Trident thence become a holy terror. Β
The music was a mixed bag, though. Β Some returning fighters and their stages (ie. Xavier, Jetta) got some good new tunes with CftDS, while others (ie. Rax, Shadow)...well, didn't. Β Raven's theme was a disappointment, but Dawson's theme was solid, Ramses' theme was mighty and Riptide's theme was a freakin' beast (and the only fault I can find with it is that it doesn't loop for ten minutes straight).

Lucky youπ Back in the day it was pretty hard to get hold of a SEGA CD and even harder to find the games. I know the original EC inside out though ^^

Oh, man. Β If only you could have tried CftDS firsthand. Β I played Riptide a lot, and she's a beast with a wicked projectile game (and a massive Crow's Nest uppercut for when the other fighter gets too close). Β But she still wasn't as much of a beast as my Trident was. Β
Beating both the Eternal Champion (and his eight forms) and the Dark Champion (and his eight forms) was an epic-level achievement and a whole world harder than beating the original Eternal Champions. Β I came close with Slash, I came close with Rax, I came close with Riptide and I came close with Crispy, but Trident's the only fighter I ever managed to beat CftDS with.
Trident's ending changed in the interrim, too. Β In EC, he beats the Roman champion, spares the champion and, instead of filling Atlantis with all Atlanteans or all Romans, he convinces both civilizations to send half the Romans and half the Atlanteans down with Atlantis; then, with Atlantean ingenuity combined with Roman aggression, mankind achieves space flight about a millenium early. Β But in CftDS, Trident has the Roman champion on the ground, and both the Romans and the Atlanteans start to cheer for Trident and howl for the loser's death. Β So the loser gets enraged by the crowd and has another go at Trident, and Trident is forced to kill him, so then Trident basically says, "Y'all are some bloodthirsty bastards and you suck." Β So then he rounds up all the scientists, philosophers and other great minds, and he takes them all to Atlantis with him and leaves everyone else behind, saying something along the lines of "We'll return to the surface world when mankind sheds their savagery and proves themselves worthy of us." Β So I was left thinking, "Wait a second. Β Trident just took away all of the people who had a chance of making the world a better place. Β So wouldn't Trident actually be making the world worse? Β Isn't that the exact opposite of what the Eternal Champion was trying to achieve when he saved Trident (and all the others) from death in the first place?"
So yeah, I think Trident's original ending was better. Β But at least the new ending has a nifty CGI scene with Trident holding the Roman gladiator's severed head, so props to the graphics department. Β

Yeah I think it would have been cool too. I've only played it on emulator and it was actually a picture of Riptide and I think it was Ramses that made me check it out in the first place ^^

Thanks! I can't stop thinking about EC for some reason.
The role-play or voice acting parts was soo fun to do.
Right now the portraits are exclusive to the album download.
But maybe some time in the future ^^
