This is a design for WeLoveFine's newest pony competition: Ponies vs. Villains. Please vote for it here- [link] I wanted to do something for Octavia, since I feel that she is slightly under-appreciated. (especially when compared to the more 'hip', Vinyl Scratch)I really enjoy the rich sound of Cello in music. Very classy indeed. ^^ I found myself listening to a lot of it while doing this piece. lol (*cough* the Piano Guys are the stuff of legend)

Wow very nice! I love how much detail is put into this, especially the shading. I would totally agree with you that she is very small compared to Vinyl.
Also just wanted to point out that she plays double bass. Its a much, much bigger instrument with a deeper sound that you play standing up. You don't normally play cello standing up.

Couldn't vote because I don't have an account on the website, but I agree it's a five. Out of ten. (JK) I especially like how you presented the angle of the face; it's not something I've seen before. And yes, the cello is a very nice instrument. It adds some good flavor to Skillet's music. (Please don't hit me.)

Oh really? I suppose they might use a variety of instruments, come to think of it. *cough* Although I myself can't really distinguish much of anything from that ear-bleeding, heavy metal distortion, let alone the delicate sound of the Cello.

I wish there was a band that did symphonic hard rock, like Skillet does, but made it progressive, so there was less repetition. Like if Kansas went heavy metal. That would be completely awesome. Or a symphonic hard rock album that was written like an actual symphony, with movements and all that. It's nice to dream about, but if it ever happens it'll be next to impossible to find. It wouldn't get any mainstream play, and there are so many indies out there that I'm only able to discover a fraction of 'em.

A big part of the appeal of heavy music is the duality between the harsher elements, and the more melodic parts -- hence things like Skillet's use of cello and violin, or the bridge in P.O.D.'s Murdered Love. So the appeal is that such a dream band could have the complexity of a symphony, while adding the interplay between the harsh and melodic. There is a genre of music that's purely "heavy" with no melodic elements, but that's known as harsh noise and it's not something I enjoy.
And you should know what restraint feels like. The chair that they chain you to every night is a restraint. Remember, the one that we're never to unchain you from, no matter what you say, no matter how much you have to use the restroom?

I can't drink coffee. Acid reflux. Can't drink hot chocolate either. I enjoy a good water, though. Especially the delicious blend of minerals used for Dasani, but I usually stick with water filtered in the comfort of my own home.
