Description For =org-nu . It's pretty much up and running, so please check it out! Here's Xal's profile below, backstory and whathaveyou will be posted soon (but really, most of it is on the backstory journal at the site).

(Also, please click Download if you wanna see all the details. ^^)

Name: Xalna

Proof of Existence: The Mechanical Tremor

Somebody name: Lana

World: Titan A.E.

Age: 19

Height: 6'

Weight: ...Heavy (her limbs are made of METAL, let's be serious here)

Power: Earthquakes/Tremors

Weapon: Cybernetic limbs

Power use:

--Xalna controls earthquakes. However, these aren't deep, seismic, plates-actually-moving-past-each-other earthquakes, just superficial/relatively short-ranged earthquakes caused by vibrations applied to any solid surface.

--She uses her cybernetic limbs (which are, in fact, her actual limbs--not items she puts on for battle) to create these vibrations (actually controlled machinations in the limbs, conducted by punching or stomping). There are small spots on the hands and feet of the limbs that create the tremors, but she keeps them covered and protected (either by gloves or boots) because they are easily damaged.

--She can adjust the strength of these tremors, HOWEVER she can only handle so much power before her limbs shut down (they all pretty much run on the same wavelength, so if one shuts down, the rest go with it), leaving her pretty much useless.

--She can use two limbs to create vibrations on two different surfaces, but it costs energy. So the total power she could ultimately put in one limb would have to be split between two. It would use the same amount of energy, but there would be two less powerful tremors in two different places. This could work with three limbs, or even all four limbs attacking, too...but not only would that be impractical, but it would create three or four fairly weak quakes.

--These earthquakes can only travel in directions (for example, toward her opponent)--she cannot cause an earthquake that affects an entire area (like typical, real earthquakes). She could create several quakes that travel in different directions, but they would be limited to those directions. The distance limit on these quakes varies depending on the strength of the tremor--the stronger it is, the farther it goes. For example, her most powerful quake would travel about a mile, causing extremely far-reaching and devastating damage, but it would drain her completely (so she wouldn't use that unless she absolutely had to do so).

Personality: Xalna is a very serious person. Growing up, she didn't have much chance to play or have fun, so she's used to being studious, serious, and rather mature. Since her siblings were rather playful and rowdy, and she was not in the least, she tried to act as the authority figure and help take care of them when she could. Being invalid, however, she always wished she could be more protective. Hence, as a Nobody she is very motherly and protective of other Org. members. She's more serious about missions and duties, and not only her own. She's rather strict about members doing their own work and doing it well, but she'll step in to help if someone is in serious danger. She also helps instruct new members. However, all of this isn't to say she wouldn't like to let loose and have fun, but she feels she still has to be a voice of reason when she can.

However, most people are only the targets of her motherly side, and very few actually see it expressed. Instead, she is seen as a very stoic, serious, and sometimes harsh figure (when she is less than pleased, she can have a very powerful voice). She is not fast moving, in battle or out, and she has an almost indestructible patience (which one needs when working with Xeth's). She is often to be found overseeing members and situations with with a characteristically grim expression. She rarely smiles, but very occasionally smirks a little when something strikes her as funny (usually Xeth's being ridiculous, or her snapping back at him), or the corner of her mouth will twitch when she is proud of someone or pleased. It's noteworthy to say that she is very intelligent/well-read, and has a great love of learning. She is also capable of coming up with some pretty good one-liners on the spot, but it seems that no matter how much a comment would warrant a grin or some kind of menacing look, she still maintains that same, cold gaze...

lol I drew it in Photoshop and colored it there, too. And if you want to join =org-nu , I highly suggest reading the material on the main page (backstory, joining page, FAQ, etc.). It's pretty thorough in the rules and how-to stuff and such (and I ought to know--I helped found the place, haha). And if you need any help, there's a chat room, and you can note the club for help.

Ah, you take a picture and cut it down to 50 pixels X 50 pixels, then you can set it as your icon in...settings, I think. Possibly another place, but think it is settings.

Does that help?

Vary. Is photo shop a download? And where would I need to go to find the Main Page? Also, what does NU stand for? Is it even an acronnym(pardon my spelling.)?

Haha, I am afraid Photoshop is a veeery expensive art program. Alas. But if you are interested in using something similar, you should go check out GIMP. I have heard that it is very good--very like Photoshop! But I don't know much else about it. I would suggest Googling that up. And the main page is here!: =org-nu Just click that link there and scroll to the bottom of the journal--there are a bunch of links, just start going to them and reading. And that will explain what Nu is, too! It is not an acronym, I will give you that. ^^

I took a look at the factions; AAm I suppose to make one character for each, or is that just optional?

Do you mean all the other clubs, like Nu-Hybrid or Nu-Heartless or Keyblade-Brigade? If so, then yes, that's totally optional.

She didn't really lose them. As a somebody, she was handicapped and couldn't walk. When she became a nobody, she was given cybernetic limbs...so that there'd be a kind of irony in that she was finally able to walk--at the expense of losing all the people she cared about and for whom she wanted to be able to walk.

Xalna: Hello, Xalvien.

Neat element right there. Titan A.E.? *looks up* Oh! That movie.

It's about damn time that someone with cybernetic limbs used them for weapons.

I hope that my character isn't too much like yours because I designed her to also have mechanical limbs. But instead of as a weapon, she has them because her element (hopefully) is technology. They also are more a fleshy plastic material and colour.

I love her hair and jacket too.

Xahtonnoj [2008-07-15 19:28:52 +0000 UTC]

So you're the Gilly i've been hearing so much about from the Queen of Frosted Muffins.

I very much like your concept, and the character... schematics, I suppose would be an appropriate name, are excellent. However, my Nobody has somewhat similar powers to yours. Will this be a problem, Superior? If so, I will not waste your time with less cryptic language. If not, however, I am prepared to note you a full caracter and ability write-up concerning the potentially overlapping abilities. *bows and grins*

By the way, how powerful are Xalna's artificial limbs, in terms of strength, durability(not the tremor inducers), and speed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hyperionwitch In reply to Xahtonnoj [2008-07-15 23:19:53 +0000 UTC]

I have already talked with ze Savvy about your particular case, and I have found that I think they are sufficiently different. However, I did have to ask, do your vibrations affect an entire area or do they move directionally (like Xal's)? That was my only question, really. Other than that, I reeeeally like your Nobody's power.

They're pretty dang sturdy and they make her very strong. They're also really heavy, so she's slow-ish. She's more of a power-based character than speed-based. ...If you've played Xenosaga, think Ziggy. If not, don't worry about it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Xahtonnoj In reply to hyperionwitch [2008-07-16 03:43:16 +0000 UTC]

Good! *beams* Neither; my Nobody's power is strictly contact-based, and the more densely packed an objects' molecules are, the harder it is for him to vibrate(meaning earthquakes are a bit beyond him, though making cracks appear where he steps are well within his skills). I think that our Nobodies would actually make a great team, one because of our complementary powers(yours being the Big Picture kinda deal-The Nuke-, while mine are the depleted uranium .50 cal sniper round), and two because of my Nobody's speed and agility would nicely cover any weaknesses of your somewhat slower Nobody. See, my guy is naturally fast, and that's boosted by the fact that he can focus his unstoppable neutral vibration in a set direction to make him cross the threshold into super=humanly speed. His only true weakness is his extreme lack of range. He can't fly or hover, he can't summon portals quickly enough to use them in combat, he can't throw his hammers with any real measure of accuracy, and most of all, his ability requires that he be in direct physical contact with his target before he can do anything. Whaddya think so far?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hyperionwitch In reply to Xahtonnoj [2008-07-16 03:50:59 +0000 UTC]

That clarifies it more! It sounds good--and you're right, those are good complementary powers. Plus Xalna can pull off farther distances, it would seem--like having the quakes travel--and from what I can tell, the vibration is more short-ranged, contact based attacking paired with being fast...um, right? I'm repeating back to make sure I understand this completely. So yeah! It's not really official approval or anything, but I think your power is different (and awesome, might I add) enough to be a-ok in my book. I guess if there was anything regarding each others' powers we wanted to clarify we could talk and work stuff out. I know I'm flexible 'bout this kind of thing, so lemme know?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Xahtonnoj In reply to hyperionwitch [2008-07-16 14:02:35 +0000 UTC]

Yes, fast and furious. And many thanks about the 'awesome' comment!X)

The more I think about it, the more I realize that we accidentally created the flip side of each other's character. The only area where we truly overlap are our weapons. My Nobody wields dual Vibranium sledgehammers (Vibranium is the only material that is immune to the normal dissociative nature of my Nobody's constant uncontrollable vibration, and this immunity is due to it's crystalline molecular lattice, which also makes it very strong in terms of hardness and resistence to shattering and bending, and also makes it relatively light('bout one third the weight of an equivalent mass of carbon steel), and your Nobody's limbs are some heavy alloy, so we are both blunt-force kind of people . I'll break the rest of the info into note-sized packages for you later...
Oh, thought I should mention: until now I didn't notice how aesome you avatar and name were. *thumb-up*

No problem, you deserve it.

True story! I like your character more and more. I look forward to hearing more in these "note-sized packages" of which you speak.

Haha, aw, thank you! ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Xahtonnoj In reply to hyperionwitch [2008-07-16 19:32:49 +0000 UTC]

I completely forgot to ask you earlier, but what is the power source for her artificial limbs? You spoke about power consumption and her 'fuck-you-button' attack taking up almost all of her energy, but I don't remember a specific power source being mentioned...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hyperionwitch In reply to Xahtonnoj [2008-07-16 19:55:30 +0000 UTC]

...That's because I didn't mention one. *looks around shiftily* XD

I don't really know, honestly. Probably it's, y'know, her actual...life energy. Not that using her super special awesome attack would actually KILL her. ...Or maybe it would. Maybe the most powerful one (like, more powerful than the one I described in the description--probably more widespread, I'd guess) would kill her, ala (SPOILER) Axel. But running out of energy for the limbs would more knock her unconscious. So it must be her...life energy.

Yeah. That sounds good. lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Xahtonnoj In reply to hyperionwitch [2008-07-16 22:25:14 +0000 UTC]

That works *appraising nod*, and it lets you have a bit of canon-ocity...

My Nobody unconsciously converts one percent of all of of the matter he consumes directly into energy (ee equals emcee squared) and that energy is expressed in the excited state of his molecules which he can partly control and direct into objects that he is in contact with. Plus, so it's possible for him to have a super-powered death scene, I figured if he digs a bit too deep and trys to destroy...oh, I don't know, some giant random indestructible thingie in order to save the day, he'll be able to do it, but all of the released molecular vibration energy will prove too much for his conscious mind to control and he will vibrate even his molecules apart and he will subsequently either asplode in a very big way or simply become a cloud of light and drift away peacefull, depending on the situation...

(in case you hadn't realized, I put a lot of thought into my characters)
