Between Seve Gordon's toad and yours, yours is more of what I would expect toad to look like. Both are great but yours rocks a bit more! Sorry for any spelling errors I wasn't the a student when it came to spelling:/

toad was one of the few characters that i didn't care for in all his previous incarnations. so designing a fresh take on him was fun. i'm glad you like it.

Yep - I really thought there could've been more there, he's got just awesome character potential that isn't played with enough. I think X-Men: Evolution came closest, and at least made him a sympathetic character for the first time. But yeah, this rocks.

Great costume design! The jacket is a nice touch :3
It could be the pose, but I'm reminded of Stork from StormHawkes with this pic.

thank.....my inspiration for that comes from something i heard about the big two comic s companies back in the day. that , as a general rule, hero's would lean toward primary colors , like red, blue and yellow. while villains leaned more to secondary colors, like purple, orange and green.

as i write this, i can already think of contradictions to that rule, but that's where i started.

But are the contradictions for characters whose motives are more "grey areas"? You're right, there are plenty of contradictions, but it's an interesting place to start working from. I thought it was particularly cool in Toad's case, because you've gone with a more modern version of the character for the show, but orange and purple were the colors on the old Kirby version. Either way, cool design.
