the mechanical body is a deterministic extension of the conciousness. i'm not sure if conciousness=soul, though.

it's rather the other way around
consciousness is the product of the body (brain)
the way you act is a direct product of the synapses you have in your brain (in interaction with the environment and all)
anyway this is where most research in neuro-science points to and if you think about it physics and science in general points in that direction
here I used soul as consciousness so my answer to the question would by yes (though you can argue on the use of the term "deterministic" which... well it's a long story and I have to revisit it a little)
as for the soul as a separate entity from the body... that's a highly improbable speculation

well, i guess this is rather a thin line than some solid ground. i recently stumbled upon a book saying something like "the conciousness creates the materia", and somehow i line-up with this ideea. offcourse is not about our individual conciousness, but one above, be it (the concept of) god or whatever you like to call it.
some years ago i started to read (but never finished) a book by Draganescu, The Ring of the Material World, and in it i found out for the first time, about the information layer of the universe (the other two being materia and energy, though i'm confused here, where do the separate?). the information layer is supposed to contain all the laws that control anything in the universe, from shapes to movement and so on, and the memory of anything that happened. so i guess that's the conciousness. without it matter won't form out of energy to give out energy and so on.
later on, after abandoning the book because it got to explaining things trough mathematics and formulas, i started to "develop" on my own
you must make some animations in the old style. like drawing each frame manually, and keeping it minimal. short stuff like 1 to five minutes at maximum for begining. that's because your images are powerfull enough, but time/motion would take them to a whole new level. and i feel weird to tell you this, since you already know it.
kudos!

well, it's inspired from ideas in fundamental physics and movies like Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell
glad you like it

the doll part makes me nervous.. ( i hate dolls )
but.. the concept is brilliant. you must have access to a fairly good metalworking lab. is this in your home or a school facility?
i love the juxtaposition of the organic and the inorganic .. especially machinery like what you've done here, but also computer or electronic parts. you've executed the concept in a homogenized way that truely holds the piece together in meaning, visual harmony, and textural unity.
all of my sculpture pieces that are reminiscent of this method are made of materials that are not so unified, and having seen this, it is a source of regret.
was there a lot of casting involved?

well this is not really metalwork (or not entirely)
here you can see the model before painting
used plastic, wood, metal...
I made it in my room along with all the other sculptures - so my room was a mess
