Description personal favorites from the Dragons series

right click on film and activate Loop

finally got the normal mapping to work properly - for those who are not familiar with computer graphics normal mapping is a technique that changes the surface orientation making it possible to add detail to an object without increasing polygon count - the reflections on the snake scales are just a result of normal mapping (the surface is actually flat)
I guess I'm weird cause instead of using OpenGL or DirectX I use my own graphics code written in Delphi
snakelike dragon also generated with programming
enjoy

hell just realized for some time now that the reflections were wrong - if you pay attention the reflection moves in the wrong direction and this is because of A STUPID SIGN - it was F@#%ING MINUS
that's what happens when you write your own code (actually considering that there were a few errors for rotating the view in 3ds max 4 or 5 and also some simple errors in photoshop it makes you think that maybe the people there didn't really pay attention in math classes on vectorial spaces )
probably will update this...

Where's it's head and tail? It's making my computer lag.... Awesome though!

it's one continuous loop, no head, nor tail, just like this one:

Even in the thumbnail I noticed the gloriously detailed reflections and wanted to comment. (Did not even occur to me that they were moving the wrong way. Hah!)

So had to drop in and complement your for those reflections alone. (Curious how we use a window pattern so often as a reflection. Why is that?)

Cheers! - L.

most of these animations were tests while programming, and the window reflection was just a simple image I used as "reflection". didn't bother to change it
anyway I'm in the process of rewriting the code for this, and there will be some nice changes to it

Awesome. Looking forward to it. You're doing great stuff - even at an experimental level. Nature is an enormous work of art, and we just want to express that same perfection.

I like to photograph the pans in the sink, soaking after a roast. They are often so beautiful!

I've come across this animation several times over the years of surfing DA, and this time I don't know if this one is new or updated but for some reason it looks sooooo much better than any other time I've seen it on the search, don't know why.

Now you have me tempted to pick up the coding class at my community college... Unfortuneately it doesn't contribute to anything towards a teacher education transfer (my major) that I'm aware of!

hypnothalamus In reply to RalenthNaelore [2011-11-09 00:29:20 +0000 UTC]

it takes some investment to get to a level where you can do really interesting stuff with coding... baby steps you know
but it might be worth a shot, at least you try it and see how well you respond to it
