thanks

I just realized that this would have been a lot easier to paint on a canvas than on my tablet because for high res I had to wait a few seconds after drawing a line with that special brush
goddammit

Haha..
Yes I can understand your frustration..
How much RAM are you using..?

I got 3GB. That's not the problem though. It's just how much it takes to draw a huge brush (1000 pixel in diameter) that also has a secondary brush with some effects.

So what system do you need with the processing power to handle huge brushes?
More RAM, better CPU or Bigger Graphics card?

Please reply!

you only need a lot of RAM so that all the actions can be recorded in memory (for undo purposes) and so that you can work with big images, store plenty of layers
how fast a brush is drawn depends mostly on the processor or the graphics card if the program is hardware accelerated
I'm using CS3 for now, but I heard CS4 is hardware accelerated - I'm just not sure how well it works

I will try to make a simple drawing program with certain features Photoshop doesn't have and see if it works better that way - been planning this for a while but haven't got the time for it

my system : Intel Dual Core 2.5 GHz, with ATI Radeon ??? 512 MB, and 3 GB of RAM, running on Vista
it usually works really well except for those huge 1000px diam. brushes
