Interesting... I like how the relative positions of the mask and the not-quite-body create a kind of menacing pose with merely two non-connected objects.

This is a great concept you have. This mask plays much on the Italian's doctors or known as Plague doctors.

that is a typical Italian mask so if Assassin's creed is in anyway related to Italy then that must be it

Yep, is it just Italian or is it also a mask for Italian doctors, not just civilians? It truly is a very awesome image, can I ask how you created it?

unfortunately I don't really know much about the mask itself and it's initial uses...
anyway I was in a restaurant and they had these masks on a wall so I drew one and added the body next + some simple photoshop touch-ups

I'm not sure if these are the same masks, but at some period there were these people that had to deal with dieing or dead people (after some epidemic like the Black Death) and they wore these masks to stand the smell of the dead. I'm not 100% sure, but this would be the reason these mask usually give off a creepy feel to them.
