Tried to be a bit experimental with the colors, but nothing too crazy. Maybe there is a bit too much going on.

Being "a bit experimental with the colors" really paid off. You could have easily gotten away with sticking to greens, blues, and whites, but instead you accepted the challenge of using a complicated palette and made it look completely natural. Well done!

Thanks for the more in depth comment! Yes, it was actually my goal to go for a color palette that is unusal for traditional pixelart, because it's inefficient. But with the old limitations gone, I see no point in keeping all aspects of "retro" style for modern pixelart.
