Description

And here is the last moveset character for the year of 2020! The highest requested 3rd party character I have gotten to do a moveset for, and someone I am personally betting will make it in the fighter pass 2…

**RYU HAYABUSA LEAPS INTO THE FREY!!**

Name: Ryu Hayabusa

Universe: Ninja Gaiden

Entrance: Ryu Hayabusa descends from high in the sky via a smoke bomb puff of smoke. He lands on the stage in a ninja pose as he stands up and takes a defensive stance as he gets ready to battle!

GIMMICK: NINJA MASTER--------------------------------------

Ryu Hayabusa the dragon ninja master joins smash! Ryu has a simply gimmick that can make him unpredictable to opponents, and that is his speed as a ninja master! Ryu’s running speed is one of the fastest in the game, somewhere between Captain Falcon and Little Mac’s speed. Because of this, Ryu can maneuver around the battlefield in ways nobody else can! WATER RUN, when Ryu interacts with water by running into it (not being thrown, falling, or walking into it) he will not immediately fall into the water. Instead, if you continue to run in a single direction when you hit water, Ryu will be able to run on the water for about 3 seconds before falling in, or if he stops moving, he will fall in. WALL RUN, Ryu is able to wall jump and wall cling, but his main impressive ability is his ability to momentarily run up walls! By running and jumping into a wall Ryu will begin to run up the wall with great speed and can jump off of it or go into a wall cling at any moment! NINJA AGILITY, for Ryu’s last impressive ability, if Ryu jumps up into a platform that cannot be jumped through (example the bottom of the battlefield stage) Ryu will cling onto the stage! He will be able to crawl along the bottom of the stage for about 4 seconds before entering free fall, which gives him a second opportunity to recover back onto the stage! Once Ryu lets go of the stage however, he cannot cling onto it again until he lands on a surface. If he crawls towards a ledge he will automatically grab onto it.

Specials------------------------------

B- Windmill Shuriken- Ryu tosses a large rapidly spinning shuriken forwards a medium distance. If the shuriken does not make contact with an opponent, it will boomerang back from where it came and if it makes contact with Ryu he will catch it and be ready to toss another. If it does not make contact with Ryu when it returns, it will travel a short distance past him before boomeranging back one final time a short distance. The shuriken will disappear after dealing multiple hits of DMG if it makes contact with an opponent, but otherwise will continue to travel back and forth in a set path until it disappears or hits an opponent. Only one windmill shuriken can be in play at a time.

Side B- Phantom Doppelganger- A technique from Ninja Gaiden 2, Ryu creates a phantom doppelganger of himself which he sends out in an attack forward! The phantom dashes forward a short distance and slashes in an upward low to high diagonal slash as it travels! This phantom doppelganger can travel through attacks, projectiles, and walls in order to attack an opponent as well! Ryu is left open after summoning the phantom doppelganger though while it attacks his opponents, so watch out!

Up B- Flock of Flying Swallows- Gripping the dragon sword and channeling all his strength into a recovery attack, Ryu travels in an upward diagonal at lightning fast speeds as he delivers a flurry of rapid slashing attacks with his sword. This recovery can string along up to 8 attack hits to opponents caught in the technique. After reaching his peak height, Ryu delivers one final spinning horizontal slash and then enters freefall state. You also can quickly press left or right after starting the attack and Ryu will travel horizontally rather than upwards.

Down B- Fire Ninpo- Ryu performs a ram ninjitsu hand position as he summons the magic of fire to aid him! The fire ninpo special can be held to charge up the attack, and depending on how long the attack is charged before releasing down B, it has three levels of fire ninpo attacks. The levels and charge last about the same length of time as Sephiroth’s standard special, and similarly if Ryu takes any DMG while charging he flinches and the attack immediately stops.

    -        Art of the Fire Wheels: Simply tapping down B or holding it for only a short time, Ryu summons a series of three fireballs (reference to NES era Ninja Gaiden) which circle Ryu slowly for a short amount of time. This fire wheel has a few purposes that include defensive abilities and fighting abilities. For defensive, the fireballs can absorb projectiles if it is spinning just right and a fireball is hit by a projectile, this will cause the fireball to disappear however. At the fire circles Ryu, you can run into and touch opponents and the fireballs will harm and deal fire DMG as they hit opponents, and will not disappear once hitting an opponent. Lastly, pressing B or down B will cause Ryu to point forward and send the wheel of fire rolling straight forward at high speeds to deal a ranged fire DMG attack. The fire will circle Ryu for about 6 seconds before vanishing if Ryu does nothing.

    -        Art of the Flame Phoenix: Performed by holding down B for a medium amount of time, Ryu creates three fire birds (phoenix) which fly around Ryu in a horizontal pattern around his waist and outwards a little bit and circle faster than the fireballs of the previous charge. These fire phoenix will deal more DMG if they hit an opponent and their circling pattern covers a longer range than the regular fire wheel. Tapping B or down B will cause Ryu to point forward and send the phoenix forward one at a time in rapid succession as they fly forward with a slight homing effect to them to deal higher fire DMG to opponents.

    -        Art of the Inferno: Performed by holding down B for 5 seconds, rather than creating fireballs or phoenix that circle Ryu, his fists become engulfed in flames as he slams them into the ground to create a pillar of fire that rises a medium distance above Ryu’s head and also creates a fiery explosion all around Ryu that can deal heavy DMG and knockback, and can even KO under 100%.

Final Smash- Art of the True Inferno- Ryu takes a defensive stance with his dragon blade as he delivers a brutal forward slash that travels forward (and then backward if it misses) just like Joker’s startup to his final smash. Any opponent hit by this slash will slashed upwards by Ryu where they travel to the top of the stage. The background dims to show a full moon as Ryu delivers a flurry of fast shadow-like slashes as he teleports and hacks and slashes through the captured opponents! After the flurry of strikes, Ryu floats above the opponents and performs one final ninpo ninjitsu pose as he becomes engulfed in flames and transforms into a fire dragon! In the fire dragon form, Ryu bites into the opponents and slams viciously down onto the stage and ends the attack with a burst explosion of fire before reverting back to his regular form as opponents are sent flying!

Standard Moves---------------------------------------------

Neutral A- Ryu Hayabusa has a unique trait where he has two neutral combos, one which is much faster and is a good “get off of me” quick attack, and another which is slower but can string along more DMG if connected like a combo. The startup to the neutral combo sees Ryu wind back his palm for startup lag that you can then decide to either rapidly tap A multiple times for the less powerful combo OR you can strategically press A in a rhythm to create a stronger combo that is a bit slower. FOR THE FAST COMBO, Ryu delivers a forward palm thrust with his right palm, a left palm thrust, a forward gut kick, and finishes off with a roundhouse kick. FOR THE SLOWER COMBO, Ryu takes out his dragon sword and delivers an upward slash from low to high, a horizontal slash, a high to low slash, and finishes off with a spinning high to low slash!

A Left/Right- Ryu delivers a quick horizontal slash with the dragon blade then sheathes it. A strong attack that references his side attack in the NES Ninja Gaiden.

A Dash- Ryu delivers a powerful forward leaping attack where he performs a diagonal spinning downward slash forward.

A Up- Ryu kicks high upwards stretch kick.

A Down- Crouching low to the ground, Ryu slides forward with his foot extended in a sliding kick attack.

Smash Left/Right- Lunar Staff- Ryu takes out the lunar staff and rapidly rotates it forward like a propellor blade for multiple hits of high DMG.

Smash Up- Eclipse Scythe- Ryu unleashes the eclipse scythe in an upward 180 front to back slash with mighty range and DMG output.

Smash Down- Falcon’s Talons- Ryu equips the Falcon’s Talons on his hands and feet and performs a low to the ground outward leg sweeping spinning attack (like a break dance) followed by slashing both talons upward in opposite directions for a final upwards launch.

Aerial Neutral- Performing multiple front flips, Ryu slashes with his dragon blade and turns his whole body into a flipping slashing hitbox. A move from the NES Ninja Gaiden.

Aerial Forward- Ryu delivers three lightning-fast slashes with the dragon sword forward.

Aerial Backward- Ryu delivers a fast backwards roundhouse kick.

Aerial Up- Ryu swings the dragon sword very fast upwards in a backflip slashing attack.

Aerial Down- Ryu lifts the dragon blade high and performs a downward flipping slash attack.

Taunt/Result Screen---------------------------------------------------

Taunt 1 (Up) – Ryu swings his sword downward to clean it of residue and stands tall as he grunts and analyzes the battlefield.

Taunt 2 (Side) – Ryu crosses his arms as wind blows his scarf in the breeze for a moment.

Taunt 3 (Down) – Ryu stands tall and performs the 9 Ninja Syllable Seals hand gestures rapidly: rin, kyo, to, sha, kai, retsu, zai, jin, and zen.

Defeat Pose- Looking downward in defeat, Ryu claps as humbly as he can for the victor.

Victory Pose 1- Ryu Hayabusa is seen soaring through the air in a giant wind technique leap as he lands on the victory screen in a ninja-like pose. He looks up at the camera and sheathes his blade while staying in the pose.

Victory Pose 2- Ryu sheathes his sword and turns from the camera as he says, “Darkness is destined to lift in the end. I still have much to do.” Before he takes out a smoke bomb, throws it on the ground, and vanishes!

Victory Pose 3- The camera zooms up as Hayabusa does a Ninpo-pose by holding his fingers. He then vanishes in a flurry of flower petals.

First, Kasumi can throw projectile Kunai that deal minimal DMG but travel far and fast. Second, Kasumi will slice up opponents with multiple clashes from her wakizashi blade Shrouded Moon. Lastly, towards the end of her assist trophy she will channel ki into her palms where she will then deliver a strong energy filled punching attack (like a moving falcon punch) forward called Art of Rending Wind.

Stage---------------------------------------

Sky City Tokyo: A stage that references both Ninja Gaiden (the starting location for Ninja Gaiden II) and Dead or Alive (Ryu’s stage in Dead or Alive 5). The stage is a mixture of old and new, with moonlit pagodas and a modern Tokyo cityscape visible in the background. You fight on a bridge coming from a pagoda and can use the pagodas on each side of the left and right of the bridge as platforms as well. This means there is no lower blast zone, but there is an upper, left, and right blast zone. As the battle progresses, eventually a stage hazard will show up in the form of the iconic Buddha Statue boss fight from Ninja Gaiden II. This massive statue of Buddha arises from the background and stomps towards the stage to warn opponents of its arrival. Once behind the stage, the statue will attack with three attacks; the first is an arm attack where the statue sweeps its arms across the bridge. The second is an energy attack where the statue charges up a bright ball of light energy and several circles of light on the stage, once finishing the charge the statue creates powerful pillars of light energy that shoot upwards from the circles on the stage. The final attack sees the statue attempt to grab an opponent, if it makes contact with this grabbing attack it will crush the opponent three times before slamming them onto the stage in a balled-up fist, which deals high DMG to anyone caught in the slam and also high downward knockback to the captured opponent. You can DMG the Buddha Statue to destroy it if it takes enough DMG, it then crumbles apart and the person who killed it will receive a stock point.

(I went back and forth between using this fight because while it is iconic, it does reference religion. However, I decided to use it because the Belmonts reference religion several times in their movesets so I thought this could work still.)

Or they could simply have him be referred to by surname as SHADOW92990 mentioned.

If he’s indeed more commonly referred to by surname in his own games, then I guess that’s what they could go with.
