Description This landscape is a file called American Dream, which was created by Joshus Hund. It's available on John Labrenz's website: [link] All the settings for landscape and sky are mine. I wish I could've gotten rid of that huge shadow in the foreground, but this was the only position the sun could be in without making it look dreadful.

made in Terragen Classic; no editing

Did you do this is Vue?

With the right tweaks you could make this scene POP without the shadow in the background.

I never used Terragen. I noticed it does a pretty good job at using water... much better than Vue...

i really like it. if you want stunning details, you have to use plugins and i can't get mine to work. but even so, once you figure out how to make the rock and foliage look more realistic, you can make some pretty neat stuff! the atmosphere is fun to play with too ^^

S there a way to use Vue with it?

there might be. the hues and colors in Vue are hard to work with tho. do they have plugins and extra features for the PLE?

I'm not sure if they do or not in the PLE. I've always used the xstream versions lol.

Are those free? And do they have that obnoxious watermark? I opened Vue last night to see that the watermark was now being applied to even the preview image. -.-

I believe they have a free edition. Yeah, I'm afraid they do. Last time I used one it had water marks on the pictures...

Oh good, that'd be great to try! I wish they wouldn't include those stupid watermarks; now I can't use the PLE at all.

Oh yeah, I forgot that was out! I'd like to get my hands on it soon. I would imagine that it has a watermark but maybe it doesn't... I'll check it out.

The terrain file was actually made by this guy: ~joshushund just thought I'd let you know

The atmosphere kinda reminds me of the "explosion" effect atmosphere you can get in terragen if you jiggle the values around a bit

oh cool i didn't know he was on here! i thought it was made by that other guy that i have listed, cuz i found it on his site. thanks for letting me know!

and yeah, i'm SO glad i learned how to do that sky effect. makes the sunrays more apparent ^^

Very nice landscape. I like the haze you used in this one and a great color for the rock.
Have you tried to uncheck the box "terrain cast shadows"?

yeah i tried that actually, and it looked awful. i think next time, if i use that file again, i'll just obliterate the structure that's casting the shadow.

i tried that and the sky not only looked bad, but the terrain looked worse. would it be the "terrain casts shadows" box? someone suggested that one.

thanks for the feedback!

if you tried this one, it could be the one you mentioned or the 'percent cloudcover' thingie^^

yeah that's true. i needed a high cloud cover tho to get the rays the way they were. such a dilemma haha
