Description Got my new imagine FX magazine today, watched a vid on the disc that comes with it of a guy painting a big old background, so I was inspired to do this, which is good cos I really need to get much better at backgrounds. Also, the woods are my favourite place to be, I'd live in them full time if I didnt have 17 kids to support

I love ImagineFX magazine. It's so expensive here in the states, though!

That's a shame, I hate when things get more expensive when they have to travel

Yup, just shipping costs I guess. But when I have the money I don't mind spending it on that magazine.

hahhahahahahahhahaaaaaa!!!!
ohmygoodness!
my mom is one of seven. she had three kids in five years. i had three kids in a tiny bit less that four years... the family joke is that the gals of our clan can't even rub elbows with a fellow without getting pregnant!

i wonder though, did your aunt ever start just naming them all the same thing so she wouldn't get confused?

I dont know, my da said they didnt have birthdays or nothing, cos they were all poor and what not, she had the 22 with two different husbands, both of whom died before her, I always imagine how she got the second guy to marry her. Also, you can look at the births of all my aunts and uncles with my nan, and any year theres a gap of no baby, she says its a misscarriage, like, its nothing, just something that happened, she also said she loved having the babies cos she got two weeks off in hospital from the rest, it was her holidays. Now I think theres a fast turn around

i think there used to be a lot more miscarriages back in our grandparents generation, due to lack of prenatal care... but they are very, very sad. maybe she's just detatched herself from it.
ha! i can see how that would be vacation-like. heeheehee!
yeah. i think it would be impossible to afford to take care of that many children... i can't hardly afford my three! but then, if you're farming (as if i knew anything about farming!) i hear that sometimes it's helpful to have a huge family... i don't know...

nope. just because they had a ton of kids and lived a couple of generations ago. plus over the supper table at work tonight, a bunch of older ladies were blathering on about the intricacies of farmwork and their childhoods baling and whatnot. i didn't understand half the things they were saying, but i think i have farming on the brain. are a lot of irish people farmers or something?

no, only the farmer are. my nan is still alive, my gran da was awesome, he was in world war 2, he even went AWOL and fought in the spanish civil war cos you could just go on adventures and join in back then. A farmer shot me in the butt with salt and pepper pellets once, hurt like fuck... random fact

Ha! well, a lot of people in kansas are farmers.
one of my grandpa's was in ww2, also. navy. but he got on the wrong boat somehow and the boat he was supposed to be on sank. i don't think he saw much action. all he ever said was that if you misbehaved you had to work in the kitchen and peel potatoes- i've never known anyone to peel potatoes half as fast grandpa and i work in food service!
my other grandpa was a mathematician and a dean at Oklahoma University. he was doing studies concerning radioactivity as filtered the the atmosphere. he wanted to enlist, but they wouldn't let him. they wanted him doing his work. or at least that's the way he tells it.
i didn't even know there WAS a spanish civil war! man alive! my history sucks!
your gran da sounds like a real pistol!
what a crazy farmer!
there's a lot of crazy ones around here.
my hubby does patient care at our hospital, and they all love him because he's a jokester- but those onery farmer's wives are always smacking my kody in the bottom when he walks by. crazy coots!

HA ya, auld ones are crazy. Ya, spain, around 1938-39 I think, maybe later, he went off to fight Franco and his fascists, thats why I wanted to o and fight in the rebellion in spain now, but its not really a fight yet, more a big protest. My gran da was shot a couple times he said, and he was blown up once or twice, a story of a battle he was in was printed in a magazine there a couple years back, he wrote it himself, scary stuff

jiminey cricket! it's amazing he survived all that! what a toughie!
very cool! are things bad in spain now, then? i'm awfully ignorant, it seems. honestly, the last time i watched the news a woman put her baby in the microwave. i just can't stand it anymore. nothing seems shocking, and that's terribly indecent. i know horrible things are happening out there, but damn! sometimes i think they sensationalize it and in a way glorify it, and i just can't stomach it anymore (without getting super pissed off- and then i'm all crabby and mean, and i don't like being mean.)

Its bad all over, I stopped caring a long time ago, my caring was doing nothing but stressing me out and not helping the problem, so I stopped, I care for me and mine and thats it I just think I should be in a war before I die... that may be why I die, but Im willing to pay that price just to fight for something I believe in

aspiring-x In reply to i-am-mighty [2011-09-12 02:59:19 +0000 UTC]

there's plenty out there to believe in.
but it's much more profitable (and difficult) to live for something you believe in than to die for it.
i think family is a great thing to live for.
and while i'm sure you care and have compassion for all the bad everywhere.
immersing yourself within it will only drown you. or maybe that's me i'm thinking of. i'm not too strong of a swimmer.

I think it was a Bill Hicks qoute that did it for (considering he changed my whole method of thinking anyway, it fits) he said "If you have a problem with my smoking I suggest you take a look at the world around us and shut the fuck up"

cool man, really like those trees, great work on the modelling of them and their roots, like the line work as well, u get a good sense of depth from the place.

As for living in the woods, hopefully someday we will just get to replace all this modern shite with forests, then we can all get our wish!
