This was taken at the Wolf Mountain Sanctuary and it's in Lucerne Valley California! And noooooo this wolf was not mean! As a matter of fact, he had just given me a big, wet kiss right before the picture was taken!!! So sweet and such an honor!!! Now I wouldn't try that with a wild wolf...this one was raised in captivity his whole life and was rescued! That's why he's so sweet!!! There are various packages that you can choose from that range from $25-$300 depending on what you want to do when you visit. We did the $150 private tour which was AMAZING...and the neat thing is you can bring food to feed the wolves!!!! So much fun!!!! I definitely recommend going if you're in the area!!!

This is probably one of my favorite images in your gallery because there is a warm human-wolf connection. You can see it and feel it. I'm waiting for the tongue to pop out and lick you!

Awww...thank you so much! It was THE most intense experience of my life! I can't even tell you what a privilege it was to be there with that beautiful Arctic Wolf! He DID lick my face...and it was an honor! And his fur smelled so good...like pine trees! I must admit I had very mixed feelings about being there with him! After about 15 minutes I just started to cry...mostly because he really should be free and not cooped up in that cage! And I'm saddened by the fact that wolves in the US are still being hunted and persecuted. But he's an ambassador sent to teach people that wolves are AMAZING animals!!! Thank you so much for your sweet comment!!! <3

I had a very similar experience, only at a Walmart in East Texas (of all places!)LOL. Guy takes his arctic wolf with him everywhere. The wolf came to me and sat on my feet then turned as I bent over and "sluuurrpp" up the side of my face. The old guy said he'd never done that to anyone but his wife and he before. He runs a wolf and wolf hybrid rescue out there.
I love your description of smelling like pine. I hadn't thought about it before but you really hit on a great sensory image there!

At Walmart? That's amazing!!! That wolf must be a good judge of character!!! ;D Well if ya ever make it out here to California, I'll take you to the Wolf Mountain Sanctuary so you can pet them, too!!!

I know! Walmart of all places! But it's a small area. I'd love to visit California at least once in my life, same for Virginia, Colorado, New Mexico and go back to Louisiana. I've only been out of Texas barely a hand full of times and twice to the same place, Jamaica. LOL Now THAT was an adventure!

Yes! i'd like human contact if i were a wolf but not to be locked up and denied my freedom. I'd love to still run free and hunt deer and my own food, in less i was really uncapable of doing so. Like if i had a dissability of some type.
Bah petting a wolfy, i really wish something of that can happen to me! i love animals oh so dearly.
